This was neat! Never seen bats in person before! Lots of small kids loved it too! Also saw some other cute friends

This was a fun date night!! I can't believe there is a place i the middle of the city that has 10s of thousands of bats that come out every night. The best part of it was when the first bat came out, there was a hawk that flew by and grabbed it right out of the air!! So cool!! It's cool to see true nature and the food chain working even when you're not our in nature! When we went, there were probably around 50 people there to check it out as well. So it's kinda an unknown thing. For a metropolitan area of our er 5 million people, that's not a lot of people to show up for this. The reason for the 4 stars is because I think the city should put in some picnic tables and some park benches for people to use.

You do have to come around the exact timing when it’s turning dark to see the bats fly out, otherwise you’ll just see them flying over the water. The walk seems odd but you do walk down the road until you take a random right turn.

At first I thought this location was under a bridge by the street. However, it is a little further! After you pass Camelback, you keep going up on the 40th street. You pass the Chelsea Kitchen ( we parked there ) and you take a left at the next commercial building. Keep going , pass through the parking garage, exit the garage and follow the path by the canal. You'll see it to your right after about 5 minutes or less. You can also go by the canal all the way from the 40th street and Camelback to your left. It is pretty hidden by the bushes, you can't see it from afar. Get there before the sunset ...and you'll start seeing bats coming out from the "cave/bridge building " ...at first less and then more. They fly very quick and they are small, you can confuse them with birds. There are people watching on both sides of the fence and some even bring their chairs. It's just a one time experience, especially that it takes place during summer when it's so hot.

We parked at the gas station on corner and you need to open google and click the location and follow where it says to walk. From gas station we crossed the canal and walked on north side down gravel path. You will see the flood tunnel to your right. I see folks had parked at the restaurant next to canal as well. Get there about 30 minutes before full sunset. Once your there be quiet and watch as thousands of bats come out to eat. After you can also watch the feasting above the canal as they look for bugs. It was awesome.

What a neat thing to see! I had an out of town friend visiting whom loves bats so we decided to check out the bat flight that takes place in the summer here. It was very hot but worth it. Tips: bring a red led flashlight to better see the bats. Red light doesn’t bother the bats

6/4/21 Found the caves on maps, because we were looking for something interesting to do. Made sure to walk on the north side of the canal and happily arrived 30 minutes early to eagerly await the bats. Right around 7:05, they slowly started to fly out. Withing another minute, they all started coming out. It was truly amazing to see and I would definitely come back to see them again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
