Cherry Glen Campground

The sites were good sized, and not to close to eachother. There is no water hook ups in the sites, but they have 15 amp, 30 amp, and 50 amp electrical hook ups. There are multiple bathhouse but only one shower house. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The shower is free, but it is just a push button. There is no temperature controls for the showers. I did have to push the button a few times before I got warm water.

Nice, clean campground for a good price. Lots of activity at this campground but still quiet. Bathrooms are clean but the showers take a while for the water to heat up.

Had a wonderful 4 night stay at CG. This place is manicured beautifully. Hot showers, clean restrooms, great people. It’s obvious they have great workers and volunteers that take care of this property. High five to all! Definitely will be back.

In a very nice area, easy to get to, trying to find your spot is a bit of a maze, but very clean. Most everything is very close within 15 mins at max. The sites were nice a bit steep so you’ll need your extra blocks. Bathrooms and showers were close and clean. The trails around were paved and easy to navigate and well maintained. Great for riding bikes or scooters!

We stayed 2 weekend nights at Cherry Glen Campground in a camper van on April 20 & 21, 2024. It is a great location for touring Des Moines and the High Trestle Trail Bridge, which was amazing and well worth the effort. This Army Corp of Engineers campground is heavily used even in the off-peak season, thus reservations are advised during peak season in the summer and on weekends during even the slow season. Nice restrooms with flush toilets and showers. Water was available by hand pumps shared by multiple sites. Enough restroom facilities to comfortably handle even a full capacity occupancy. Sites were generally flat, a little small for big rigs & most had some shade. Most sites were back in. A few absolutely gorgeous sites overlooking the lake that are high demand so one would have to book very early to get these lots. Campground was surprisingly quiet even when it was full on a weekend. There was very little hiking nearby except around the campground. No way to access the lake directly from the campground. We ended up touring downtown Des Moines and then taking a leisurely hike around Grey’s Lake Park near the downtown, which was beautiful and heavily used by locals on weekends.||Overall, we would rate this campground 4 stars.

Very nice for RVs. We were the only tent campers when we were there. Bathrooms good and nice to walk near the large lake. Some raccoons came around, but showed away easily.

Very first time being there, but I would say it’s a very nice campground!!!, other then when we got there to camp over the weekend, found out, our reserved spot had been accidentally taken, but the camp office made everything right with us, so other then that, I would camp there again, and definitely recommend it to people!!!
