Worst experience. Do not go! I called the camp ground multiple times during the day to make a reservation, to no response. I end travelling to the campsite to try and find the individual running the place (recommended by Reservations Utah). No one there. More phone calls later and no responses. We arrive again, later that evening to the campsite to find it closed. We had the displeasure of meeting with the manager of the park, with zero empathy and he turned us away. He told us we should have called however we did, multiple times during different times of the day. The campsite was empty, there was room for us but his laziness meant that we had to find a new place to camp for the night at 6:30. After many attempts to contact the park and Park Reservations Utah, as well physically going to the site (twice) we were turned away. Don’t bother with this place.
It's a parking lot, I wouldn't call it a campground, at all. Zero privacy, people coming into the visitor center, parking to go to the lake, etc. Which they need to. Why call it a campground? Yes, there are a lot of spiders, I'm not scared. If you are you might want to reconsider. But the thing that really was awful, no water. They haven't had water in 2 weeks and no timeline on when it's being restored. The lake is super salty, no showers to rinse off. No toilets except port a potties, no water at the sites. But they have water to rinse off kayaks. You think they would lower the price during the lack of water, nope not a cent. Charge full price to sit in a parking lot. you better bring a lot of water with you. Never again.
It's $35 a night for a parking lot RV camping site. It's more reasonable than $180 a night for a room at the Holiday Inn in Tooele. This parking lot will suffice for a 34-hour reset. Eight RV spots, but only 5 available. Appears 3 spots are full time "guests". One is the camp host. It has water available and an rv dump, bathrooms are clean and there is a small marina here. No laundry room. Outside showers for swimmers. Inside showers are code box only, and that means paid. Not hating on that at all. Not a beach tho, more like a wide spot to see the lake and stretch your legs. Think of it as a rest area that charges $5 to park.
Smells horrible Most mosquitos I’ve ever seen Only 2 tent sites for some reason? Freeway noise is unbearable in a tent Gate closes at sunset for some reason? Lights from copper plant and parking lot are so bright you don’t even need a headlamp…
Conflicted about this campsite. On one hand it was well maintained, cool views and right on the lake. On the other hand, you can hear the road noise from I-80 all night, the marina often put out a bad smell, and the instructions on how to come and go from the site after hours were not clear. We also experienced some very large wind gusts both nights. Making it impossible to sit outside and enjoy the view, or a have a campfire. I guess if you have a large RV and enjoy sitting in it, this site might be good for you. Otherwise, I might find a more suitable campsite nearby.
Family time. Very sad to see dead birds along the receding shoreline
Convenient camping location if you are passing through SLC or headed to the airport. We used this as our last stop before flying back home. The smell of the marine (very shallow water, if any) is quite strong, but it does not interfere with the views. We hope this campground continues to get some traffic as the water levels continue to decline. Bathroom/Showers were very clean.
