Oasis Youth Center

It's a very safe place for people under 24 if you're either Lesbian, Gay or Transgender, I highly recommend coming here if you're part of the LGBTQ community.

Honestly I wasn't sure I would like it here at first but the atmosphere is so warm and inviting, it's a great place to go if you don't want to deal with home. And I hope I get to go back again soon Edit: 7 years later I can say I’m so grateful to had had oasis. 1) the community and safe space it provided to find and be myself 2) the resources they offered 3)the staff that’ll and volunteers that’s were just AWESOME and so kind. Honestly i could go on raving about this place but y’all get the point

Intake process is flawed, uninclusive, and lacks sensitivity. I scoured their website and exchanged emails with staff prior to the first drop-in to ensure it was flawless for my kid. More than a half an hour after dropping them off, staff had them call me to pick them up as they were not welcome without additional hoops to jump through that were not mentioned online or in the emails. I encouraged staff to better inform folx about the intake, especially when they reach out, and the staff agreed in the way you would to get rid of someone. We got back to the car and I asked my kid how they were feeling and they responded with, "depressed" as they were looking forward to hanging out with other queer kids. Update you website, inform patents, and do better.

I've made so many friends here! Oasis always makes me feel confident and comfortable with myself when I'm there. I'm always sad to leave, but I know I'll be back in just about a week.

I'm alive in my 40's because places like this were available in my teenage years. Thank You for your kindness and support. 🙏
