Virginia Rush Soccer Club

I can’t say enough about how great this program is! Our son has been with Rush for 3 years (5-8 years old) and majority of that has been spent in the developmental academy level learning and growing with incredible coaches like Isaac, Rasheed, Chris, and many others. The care, attention to detail, and fun atmosphere has really brought the best out of my son. We’re sad to PCS from this great community and club but are hopeful to come back and rejoin the club. Highly recommend this club; you will not be disappointed!

My daughter had a very disappointing experience this past season. There was a clear lack of support and camaraderie among teammates, and unfortunately, the coach did nothing to address or improve the situation. I also noticed that other players on the team were having similar experiences. Practices were unstructured and did not focus on skill development, which left the team consistently struggling during games. By the end of the season, there was little to no improvement in my daughter’s abilities, making the entire experience feel like a waste of both time and money. It’s clear from reading other reviews that we’re not alone in this. Sadly, I cannot recommend this program, and we will not be returning.

Loved the 4 day camp last week. The coach knew all the kid's names and my son felt like he learned a ton! Wish the hours were set up for a whole day!

We've been a Rush family for many years, many seasons. Coaches are all volunteer parents and fairly reasonable. Not sure why any negative reviewers didn't step up and help instead of speaking poorly of an established affordable sports option or complaining about a hardworking parent who volunteered their time off to coach a team. We love Rush soccer. Rec soccer even comes with a shirt.

I have my second child with the Rush travel program. The oldest one is off to college and still plays soccer today. I have nothing but positive experiences with the club. As a parent you do have to be involved and if you are Rush will open a world of soccer opportunities for your. If you are a drop off/pick up type parent who only makes it to games and doesn't take advantage of all the training and other opportunities Rush offers, then your experience may not be positive.

We have been with Rush for about 7 years. Both our kids have played in the areas of recreation, SOE, advanced and competitive. We are finally leaving because we just can’t take the horrible coaching and mismanagement anymore. Our child’s confidence has plummeted and it’s not hard to see why when a coach tells them they are "the least skilled player on the team" and "will never start" and "will never be in goal again the rest of the season." When it’s clear that none of this is true and backed up, just the coach didn’t like them. There seems to be a huge emphasis on body image and only those who fit a certain mold get to be on better teams despite ability. Especially when a coach tells them they can see they haven’t been putting in an effort despite their hard work outside practices, just because their body is different. Size does not determine worth or ability. We have only had two good coaches for one of our kids and both those coaches left Rush, because they are good coaches and obviously care more about their players than the clubs bottom line. The Rush coaches need training in communication, management and people skills, especially cause they are dealing with children. Conflicts between coaches, parents, and administrators drive good people away from the club because they are not dealt with in an effective way or they are ignored. Rush is a joke. They want your money but will be quick to destroy your child’s confidence and love for the sport but not care because some other suckers are waiting in the wind and just want that competitive title. I’m just happy my child still wants to play despite the terrible years with Rush.

We really never thought we’d be here with this organization, but despite the negativity we heard rumors of behind the scenes for four years we put our best foot forward because we saw the happiness and growth of our child. And we thought "well, we can do our best to keep a positive attitude through difficultly and we can deal with what comes at us because we believe in common decency amongst people, especially professional worldwide organizations". Sadly despite it all we became another story to add to this clubs record. Bottom line up front: this organization down right swindled a season of player tuition and fees ($600+) from most of it’s players this year after no services were rendered due to the epidemic shutdown, and has thus far done it to us as a military family who had to relocate halfway around the world despite being told they would honor the standard military clause that most businesses extend, knowing you don’t get to choose when and where you live in the service. THE WORST PART is how they have gone about doing it. They have literally insulted us(and as we saw most of the families who support them) with a refusal to even communicate with us. Six months ago Matt Middlestadt, DIr of Coaching, told us he would be refunding us. Weeks and months went by and no refund and no communication about why. My husband tried calling and emailing and to this day Matt still has never once engaged him. My husband even cc’ed Rush head office distro and literally the only response I received was : "I will check on it. -Matt" We spent days and months devoted to this community. We played year round and even served as their teams accountants and secretary to make sure coaches and players were taken care of so we could build a quality program with them and yet we haven’t been good enough to even be spoken to, written to, repaid, or respected. Take your business else where because Rush doesn’t care, it’s simply a business no a professional program.
