Farish Recreation Area

While visiting family my Uncle decided to take us on a 3 day camping trip! Our little cabin was so cute and the view was amazing! There was a wedding party that seemed to be having a good time the only thing we were upset about was that we weren’t invited (kidding)! They shut it down at a decent hour so no complaints here! The cabin was so cute & cozy! The hiking trails were amazing! My husband was excited to fish but knew early on he was too early in the season to catch a trophy! We went through some sleet on the way there so it was a cold 3 days. One of the many highlights were a heard (7) of Elk passing by our cabin. We really enjoyed this stay! All of the staff were very friendly & helpful!

It is a yearly two-function event: Our AVA Falcon Wanderers Club IVV credit event and USAFA Outdoor Recreation Department recreational walk at Farish Recreation Area. This event is open to the public. Usually on October. This year the weather was brisk, just right for a 5K or 10K. The area is located in Woodland Park and one of the greatest places to walk in the Rocky Mountains.

I stayed there many moons ago when my kids were young. We really had a great time. Back then I had a small rv...trailer. we're doing tents now, it's about 22 years later, but I wanna do that place again with my new wife. I have a couple photos but they're being stubborn. Made it back and it was better than i remembered. Limited out on trout everyday...liscence was 18 bucks. Military only. 3 good lakes...no swimming. Above woodland park so 8000 ft+. Pikes peak is right there.

What a gem of a place in our own backyard! 3 beautiful lakes. Huge campsites. Pavillians. We were able to stay at Pavillion #4 with our RV which included 3 picnic tables right next to the camp hosts and camp store. The fishing was so peaceful and gorgeous. Exciting when the fish hit! 3 fish daily limit per person is plenty for dinner. Even with a day of misty/ rainy day proved a great day for napping. I can't think of a better place to spend a long weekend. And there was a wedding on the wedding ridge, aptly named. If you are military, this is a must do, even if it is just for a day of fishing.

Pretty nice and quiet area. I’ve been a couple times, and it’s never been crowded. Likes of outdoor activities to take part in. The water areas though are on the smaller side, especially with Rampart Reservoir so close. Overall a great place to get away to!

Staff are super helpful. The website for booking a cabin or camping spot doesnt work great on a phone but it gets the job done. The place is amazing and our family loves it.

We camped in this place and you feel free. The lake is a federal reserve so they put almost a 1l pound of trouts. They are medium size and they’re jumping around. So beautiful experience just at 13 minutes from my house.
