TownePlace Suites by Marriott Bakersfield West

This was my first stay at a marriott and I am disappointed. the people were vert nice and friendly but the room was horrible. no water pressure, no hot water only luck warm. a shower was horrible to take. wouldnt rinse hair very well. I had a handicapped shower and the seat was full of mold and mildew. they clean it by just wiping it but do nothing about the crevices or other areas. the shower had a short curtain and so the water ran out on the floor. they had another drain next to the toilet. so if you wanted to use the toilet it was wet and you had to have your feet in water. I used a towel to sop up the excess.. the floor was all uneven probably to try and direct the water into the drain but it is hard to walk on an uneven floor for the elderly. it isnt safe. I had to turn on water and let it run for 15 minutes to try and get hot water and at best it would only get luke warm. The breakfast I ate was horrible. cold eggs doughy bisquit etc. after 2 or 3 bites I tossed it and havent been back. I had a kitchenette and I use a toaster a lot and in order to plug this one in, it had to sit in the sink to reach. not safe and the toaster didnt work properly and was old and pretty bad. I wish that nice staff was enough but it isnt. I will not be back. it is substandard in many ways. Certainly shouldnt have the Marriott name on it, maybe motel 6.

We made reservations for this hotel in January for our March stay for a week. We requested a two bedroom suite with two queen beds with an accessible bathroom. We were sent an email guarantee our request. The day we were to check in I arrived at the hotel and was told that they do longer had an ADA room. They said they had sent me an email that day. Mindful it was received at 12:45 PM while I’m driving to Bakersfield. Not that that made any difference because that was still unacceptable. They said they had a regular room we could have on the first floor. I told him that was not acceptable because my son is in a wheelchair and has to have an accessible bathroom. They said there was nothing they could do. That’s ridiculous. Why make reservations if they don’t have to honor them. This caused so much stress as we scrambled to find a hotel that had an accessible bathroom.

The food was pretty bad, and the facilities were old and dirty. The rooms smelled weird, and the gym was tiny. The night front desk staff is the worst—they don't care about helping customers or fixing problems. When I asked for towels and water in the gym, they got annoyed and said it wasn't their job, telling me to "complain to the manager."

The front desk was nice. They checked us in no issue. However , when we walked into our room on the second floor the room smelled disgusting. We had to spray the room with Lysol disinfectant spray. I pulled out the sofa bed in the living room and discovered the mattress was filled with urine stains. See photos below. This is completely disgusting and unacceptable. I went to the front desk and told them what I found. The look on the front desk clerk's face showed they didn't care, they just told me they can move me rooms. For what? So you can put me in another dirty room. HOW ABOUT YOU ACTUALLY CLEAN YOUR ROOMS YOU DIRTY PEOPLE!! They obviously don't care about quality service. I do not recommend anyone booking here. DON'T DO IT! LOOK AT THE PICTURES. I will never come back to this hotel again. NEVER AGAIN!

Came in my room the floor was wet throughout the room. Cabin door was broken and the room still had someone else food and it refrigerator smell like it was going out. Went downstairs to let the front desk know she said that she will put a not in for the manager who might not be in until Monday.

Nothing special and pricey—then in top of it there was a pet fee of 150$—we are used to pet fees but usually 25-50. This place is a total rip off and we won’t be back….
