Surprisingly good. A pool, hot tub, sauna, and a variety of up to date equipment for less than a full tank of gas per month. I used to be part of the touchstone gyms, planet granite, orange theory, and this is by far the best value. maybe the only thing I miss is the extra hour of gym time during the weekdays, but they open at 5:30am so it’s understandable

If you just want a bed for the night I had no complaints for the price. Accommodation prices across the SF bay area have become very very expensive. The facilities are actually quite good. Shared toilets and showers were fine. There is a laundry, shared kitchen/dining area, a bank of PCs and free WiFi. Guests can also use the large indoor pool and gym. Very central location. Sure it could do with a decoration shake up, but comparatively speaking, no complaints.

I love the yoga classes, and I like the machines that this location has but the people at the front desk come off as a bit sarcastic. So I try not to go to this location very much in all honesty. And you have to make sure to go either in the morning, or on the weekends so that you can avoid the highschoolers. Otherwise it’ll be difficult to get access to some of the equipment. But the highschoolers are nice and they’re not rude. Pretty well behaved.

i still dont understand why the website wanted to charge me $39/ mo and in person you re charging 64. the receptionist said he didnt know the prices or why they were different 4 separate times. i asked if there was someone who could explain the differing rates, he ignored my question and repeated the same useless info.

Signed up to strickly to use the sauna as I had health problems research claimed heat would treat. I used the sauna twice before realizing not only did it not alleviate what my symptoms were but the locker room was a meet up for tryst with guys hanging out completely uncovered and walking back and forth having full on conversation while smiling and making eye contact. A staff member noticed my awkward avoidance and approached memebers with towels who respectful declined them. I canceled my membership early one morning and the manager happened to be at the front desk. I wasnt even talking to him but the staff member who was helping me let them know. He took one look at me and said "he cant afford it." I started to explain in front of everyone what the real problem was including my ailment not being relieved but decided not to because there were old folks and children within earshot. Do better please.

I really try to like the Y in Berkeley. BUT Everything is geared towards high schoolers, which is okay, but kids and families are squeezed in between 3 to 5 and a couple of hours over the weekend. There are no dance or yoga classes for kids. Parents can't take their kids in any room other than the pool and probably basketball. I only choose the y because it is close to my home. I wish there was a Y for families. Where parents can take a class together with their kids or where childcare is offered.

I’ve hesitated to write this review for a while. But the situation was so bad that I decided to write this review out. I’ve been going to this gym for over a year now. But there are so many issues here. The workers are extremely rude. Their system is broken. My partner and I have been issues with their payment system. This happened a total of 5 times. They would inform us that the payment has gone through online but when I would try to get in the entrance I would be confronted in a unkind manner from multiple workers that I had insufficient balance. Today was my last straw. I had confrontation and I would just take insults but I don’t want to have bad energy in a area I’m trying to better myself. I recommend to not go to this gym it’s badly managed, busy always due to high schoolers that also throw around equipment.
