East Lansing Hannah Community Center

📍 Gay-friendly spas in East Lansing

8.0

Accessibility in East Lansing offers a versatile space for various events, notably praised for its exceptional service. The recital room, for instance, is a beautiful venue that can be reserved for family dinners or special occasions. Staff members are highly responsive, accommodating last-minute changes, and ensuring the space is ready with the requested setup, making it a top choice for memorable gatherings.

While the facility is well-regarded for its event spaces, there are some operational concerns regarding the basketball courts. The center could benefit from better age-specific scheduling to ensure that children have dedicated access to the courts, as well as maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all visitors.

Reserved the recital room for a family dinner. Beautiful space, and Lois was a delight to work with! She was very responsive, answered all my questions, accommodated last minutes changes, and made sure the space was ready with the setup we requested before our arrival. Highly recommended for your special events.

It's unfortunate that this Community Center allows adult men to occupy both sides of the basketball court at any time! One side should be for adults, and the other side should be for kids. In fact, the historic purpose of "AFFORDABLE COMMUNITY CENTERS" has always been to accommodate kids, giving them a healthy and safe place to go. Not here! This "Community Center" is most accommodating to GROWN ADULTS, who should be EMPLOYED, and thus able to afford a REAL GYM like the MAC; not an inexpensive COMMUNITY CENTER that should be tailored to kids. And, ironically, the MAC, DOES RESERVE one of its basketball courts for kids only! The kids’ court even has lowered basketball rims to accommodate their small size, and NEVER have I seen GROWN-UPS on that court! And, even worse, when you enter this "Community Center" basketball court, the entire place WREAKS the smell of marijuana! So.... Grown, unemployed or underemployed men, get high, and go to the local Community Center, to hog the basketball court from kids who don’t work and can’t afford to take off and go somewhere else??? It's really sad that kids in this area, who can't afford the MAC, are left with this place! Maybe the Center is struggling, and they'll do anything to keep the lights on??? I don't know, but, I wish someone would do something about this! Kids deserve better! And, grown men should be able to afford to go elsewhere!

This review is specifically for the level 1 swim class on Saturdays. The instructor looks uninterested and mentally checked out the whole class. Most of the time she’s just standing there, yawning and looking around. How are the kids supposed to progress and learn when the instructor isn’t even trying? We gave that class 2 chances, with the same instructor, but we won’t be going back because of her. It was a complete waste of money unfortunately

It’s outside might seem very intimidating since it looks like a run-down brown building but once you get to go inside you will see many activities such as art shows and plays(almost twice weekly), there are also separate rooms with many other classes like pottery, ballet, and classes.
