El León Spa

📍 Gay-friendly spas in Los Angeles

4.6

Accessibility at El Leon Spa in the United States has room for improvement to meet diverse customer needs. The quality of service can be inconsistent, with some visitors reporting less than satisfactory experiences. The attention to detail in massage techniques and therapist interactions may not always align with expectations, leading to a less relaxing environment.

Additionally, the communication regarding therapist preferences and the overall customer service could be enhanced. While the spa has potential, addressing these areas could significantly improve the overall experience for guests.

I have come to El Leon Spa several times and my last visit was more than likely my last. My swedish massage was not relaxing. It felt more Thai than Swedish. The masseuse was aggressive even for things like putting the sheet over me. The masseuse pulled my braids twice and bumped into my head a couple of times. When she flipped me over she asked how I felt and I said "okay", she responded by asking me a bunch of questions about my prior massage experiences. It felt like she was questioning me. At this point, the massage was definitely not relaxing. When it was time to pay, the lady at the front asked me how my experience was and I was very candid. I was very disappointed in her response as she only apologized and proceeded to ask about tipping. Why would I tip if I didn't enjoy my experience?

It was a terrible experience. I lay down naked then a male therapist came in. I had to ask him out and talk to the front desk. She told me I got a male therapist because I did not specify I need a female therapist when I book online. And tried to sell him to me and I said no. I’ve been coming here for 4 years and I had never need to make that request beforehand. I also had female therapist. There was also noting on the website to tell you need to make that option. When I left I was expecting to make another appointment with a female therapist and some sincere apologies. However the girl at the front desk was really focus on the phone and didn’t even look at me. It was supposed to be a relaxing experience it I felt really uncomfortable. Really disappointed

Stunning spa. As someone who's worked in the spa industry for two years, I can definitively say that El Leon is a unique gem. The interior is a MASTERPIECE of design - full of carved wood, ornate doors, plants, fountains, and candles. Another thing that makes this place unique is the specialty practice of Thai massage: where, instead of a massage table, you lie on a mat on the floor while the therapist stretches and pulls all the tight spots. I always leave on cloud 9. They also offer facials with Eminence skincare products, which is a really great organic line focused on sustainability. Overall, really great and unique spa. Definitely a gem when compared to the ultra-modern hotel spas I'm used to.

We live nearby and went in for a couples 90 min massage. The spa is an oasis and feels super calm and welcoming. Not pretentious at all. I felt that the people there cared a lot about what type of massage we wanted and my massage therapist paid excellent attention to my requests. I think the combination of thai/shiatsu deep tissue and more traditional western massage gave me a well rounded experience. Seriously, so much tension melted away. Fair prices. What would take this space to the next level is a post massage relaxation room with tea to revel in the bliss.

Had a great experience. I got a package that included a hot stone massage, body scrub, and foot massage. It was all amazing, but the hot stone massage was incredible. The young man who greeted us at 10:30 when we got there was super nice and accommodating. I also thought the prices were very responsible. The only 'con' is that in the area where you get the feet treatment is not very private. You can hear conversations and people walk by you all the time. Besides that, it was a perfect experience. I would def go back!!!

Book the 90 minute table massage! Never wanted it to end. Such a peaceful space, nicest staff and an incredible value!

Lady at the desk was mean the whole time while talking to me and repeated my questions like I'm not understanding. I thought she was just having a bad day, but after the massage, I found her being incredibly sweet to the other customer(white guy) and then again, she was mean to me. Masseur was great and sweet, but I wouldn't re-visit.
