Jake's Place, Home of Ghent Barbers

A very nice barber shop with great staff and products for sale. You can sample some products after the cut the stylist will help apply. They offer shampoos after as well. There is a spa side to the business. Another nice perk they offer beer, wine or hot coffee/tea while you wait to be seen.

What a disappointment! Scheduled a scissor cut nothing fancy. Total incompetence! Haircut is uneven and a result of poor skill and carelessness. Never ever going back nor can I recommend.

I have no idea how all these local barbershops have such good reviews. I've never had such mediocre experiences in any major city I've lived in. It is never a good sign when you ask for a specific length haircut and they specifically ignore your instructions without asking or looking to better understand your intentions. Maybe if you want a super basic buzz they can hook you right up but I wouldn't know.

First barber shop I’ve been to in the area and did not disappoint! Staff was professional, courteous, and prompt. Ciera did an amazing job!

The last two times I had an appointment the staff was 15 to 20 minutes late. The first time, I thought "things happen", the second time it becomes a pattern. At 20 minutes past my appointment time I walked up to the desk and cancelled my appointment. They promptly offered a discount on the service which was declined and I left. In my opinion, respecting peoples’ time is more important than a discount or text people that their appointment is delayed.

Had a great experience at Ghent Barbers. Melanie was amazing. Walked me through what she was doing, asked for feedback and overall did a superb job. P.S.: Not many barbers in the Norfolk area know how to manage curly, frizzy hair. Melanie was able to bring order to my curls while also maintaining their beauty. Would definitely recommend, and will visit again 🙂

Great service and haircut as usual. Mimi was great, super nice, fun to talk to. Great job. Always comfortable and classy looking decor. Couldn’t ask for more.
