Nancy at Crystal Cove in San Mateo just delivered the best massage of my life, hands down. I genuinely can't remember a previous massage that even comes close; she completely redefined what "best" means. You can feel her love for what she does in every single touch. She masterfully balanced medium and heavy pressure, surprising me with every seamless transition. Just when you think she's finished with one area, she beautifully circles back, deepening the release in a way I can barely articulate. Every single knot was expertly untangled. I feel utterly reborn! The entire experience, from the moment I booked, was fantastic. Crystal Cove provides the most beautiful service, and Nancy's skilled, comforting touch felt like coming home. This is exactly how a massage should be! Thank you beautiful creatures
I had a 90 minute Swedish massage with ivy. It was very good!!! She had wonderful pressure and could really tell where I was in pain and needed extra attention. She stretched me out after and did a wonderful face and head massage. I will definitely be seeing her again. Side note, I cannot believe the amount of people complaining about having to tip! 20% at least is more than reasonable for a good massage. I understand tipping less if you’re not happy with the service provided. However massage therapists work really hard and doing this type of work is hard on their bodies, they deserve to be paid as such.
Very disappointing. I arrived for my massage with a valid Spa & Wellness Gift Card, and the receptionist told me she didn’t know how to process the payment with that card. Because of this lack of basic knowledge and preparation, I was unable to receive my massage. It’s unacceptable for a business to advertise or accept gift cards and then have staff who are not trained to use them. The situation felt unprofessional and poorly managed. Unfortunately, they lost a client simply because they don’t know how to process their own payment methods. I would not recommend this place.
Great massage place, especially if you’re using the Groupon deal. If you are using the Groupon deal, please mention it to the front desk with your voucher code or else they will attempt to take your credit card and charge you again. I did read the reviews about the tipping situation. I came prepared with cash. They do guide you straight to the payment terminal to get you to tip. It was awkward and felt very forced. Otherwise great massage place with free bottled water.
The massage was decent for the Groupon price of $66. However, I was disappointed with the tipping policy. When I went to pay a voluntary tip, I was informed there was a minimum amount, despite it being labeled as "optional." I felt pressured to pay this amount when I was leaving, which was uncomfortable. I suggest that the business either clearly state this minimum tipping requirement to customers beforehand or include the expected tip in the total price. This would make the policy transparent and prevent this kind of awkward situation. I also felt the massage service itself could be improved. I had mentioned several specific focus areas, but not all of them were addressed. There was language barrier I think since they didn’t understand. Better time management during the session would help ensure that all customer requests are met. If given a choice, I’d not go here again considering the experience.
I've gone to massages for around 18 years and have lived around a lot of the bay area. Moving to San Mateo I found this massage place that has pretty good prices but actually genuinely good massage therapists. The others have been good, but I will keep coming back for Nancy who is legitimately one of the top few masseuses that I've ever gone to. This place is great, and I'm really thankful they are so close by. Easy to book with and frequently has seen me as a walk-in.
Jake is amazingly adept at finding all the areas of stress and working out the knots and tension. I've had sports massages that were very intense and on the verge of painful and Crystal seems to achieve the same results without the discomfort. I'm very particular about therapists and he always exceeds my expectations.
