The Liberal Club

First time in my adult life I experienced a local racist Karen while dinning in a restaurant and I’ve been all over the world due to my service in the military. I was going to the bar when I overheard her say, "See, there’s another one they let in and they broke into the restaurant two weeks ago." In fact, she was so loud everyone in the room heard her. I went up to her and told her she didn’t have to worry about me breaking in and that I was a retired police officer. She didn’t miss a beat and asked where I was from and when I told her CT, she said it was even worse there because of the immigrants and homeless people and that they were also taking over her town. At this time I could see she was drunk and unapologetic about her statements. The poor guy sitting next to her looked like he didn’t want to be there. When I told my friends and wife what had happened, my wife wanted to confront her but I told her the Karen wasn’t worth it. On a good note, everyone loved the food (see photos) with the exception of the calamari because it was tasteless and not fresh. And they have a weird two waitress system where one takes the drink order and the other the food and it didn’t work efficiently for us as two drink orders were completely forgotten. I give the atmosphere two stars and not one because the waitress was friendly and also for the two super friendly women at the next table. I think they heard my experience with the racist Karen and wanted to make us feel at ease and it worked. We all agreed we would eat here again and give it another try.

Purchased baked stuffed shrimp. Takeout. First time buying. Four of the shrimp had that ammonia smell and the crackers they put on that Ritz ? Was just thrown on there seem to be cold.

Arrived during a feast next door, so normally not that busy/ loud. Wait staff were very nice and helpful as this was a first time visit. Great seafood choices and terrific fisherman platter. Some things threw me off…. 1) Cash only dinner and 2) drinks/bar are under a different ownership/ waitress…. Will definitely come back again as the food is worth it.

Dined in x 2. Seafood platter ehich i get everywhere and always on the expensive side this place included but it was good. and clam boil was good but found the clams sandy not rinsed long enough I guess. Parking was plenty staff friendly and accommodating. I do have a favorite place to have a seafood platter check my other reviews.

This place has gone to shit. I have come here at random times throughout the years but last night will be my last. I "used" to love this place . Showed up for the feast and came inside for drinks. The asst bar manager and whoever her boss was (guy with glasses) ruined it for not only me but everyone we were with. Cut off after coming to the bar 2x? Event our bartender was like huh? Sad that when I’ve come to this place in the past that the girls sister who was an employee would be working and going around asking all the customers for cigarettes all night with no problems though. Liberal club will never be like we all remember because of new management. I can keep going on this topic but feel like they’re is no point considerating me and a handful will never be back.

Scrod mozambique was very good. Tasty but not too spicy hot. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Service was good.
