We literally just met a walking angel!! We came in searching for help because my husband lost his job 3 weeks ago and we have 6 boys who have little to nothing and we've just been struggling big time these past couple weeks. We explained how we recently fell behind on rent and how our boys dresser and beds have been falling apart and this amazing woman Nani helped us with all of that and so much more!! She gave us direct numbers to people help us with rental assistance and even got us approved for brand new furniture for our boys!!!! This place is amazing and truly make this hopeless family feel like there still is hope in the world!! I've never experienced real genuine support like this from anywhere else!! Thank you so much Nani and the entire team here at the North county LGBTQ resource center, you have truly saved our family!!!

I try to be kind, but I'm very disappointed and Max. I came here 4 years ago when you were down the hill on mission asking for assistance for therapy. You never called me back. And I called and there wasn't anybody available. And I waited to get a call back which I never received. I thought we were supposed to take care of each other. I feel ignored. I'm sad to have to write this because again I like to be kind and I like to uplift people. But when I need help where are you?????????????

Shocked at how discriminatory this organization runs. Apparently it's not enough to be gay to get help here. When I arrived I first had to fill out a form that forces you to self identify gender pronouns and race/ethnicity to "determine what aid is available." Dont expect any help if you are cis and white. My black friend recommended this place after he got a motel voucher for a month until they helped him get permanent housing, no questions asked. The girl at the front desk referred me to local shelters that are already overcrowded before sending me to a case worker who said there was no aid available for me. When I asked why my friend got aid so easily he simply said "I don't know what his story was." Why should something like that matter anyway? They pick and choose who they help based on gender identity and race so if you're white, you're out of luck. UPDATE: Yeah that response from The Center is a lie. They are just covering their own bases to avoid any negative repercussions for being a racist company. I am telling you I was turned away without any help and it's because I am a white male. Doubling down on this because it is the sad truth.

I came here a year ago to check out the Foodies & Goodies and met Nani, she instantly helped me and my family with resources and services for my uncertain circumstances. Nani has been working along with Josh to get me on the road to stability with not just trying to get my family housing, but other resources like food and gas to get me to work and providing my kids a ride to school. It is always nice to see Jerri greet you right when you open the door in the most sincere way, the staff is kind and thoughtful ready to offer any help. This place has changed my life, THANK YOU Nani, Josh, and everyone involved for everything you’ve done for me and my family. Fa’afetai Tele Lava, Mahalo, and God Bless!

When my friend and I moved from Houston to Oceanside, we had no idea how much Nani, Lisa, Jerri, and Max were going to change our lives. Not only did they guide us through this difficult time of homelessness by giving us food, shelter, and a little bit of cash for my medication, laundry, and bus passes, they treated us with love and respect that I had never experienced in the fifteen years I lived Texas. If struggling with homelessness and mental illness has left you feeling as hopeless and lonely as I was, Nani is absolutely more than capable of using her many resources to support you and bring peace and joy into your life again. I thank everyone at North County LGBTQ Resource Center. I’ll always love them and will never forget their kindness. Makes me believe in there is hope for humanity, because I now believe there is hope for me.
