Charade Speakeasy

As avid speakeasy goers we love to try new places. We found Charade and came in as a walk-in and sat at a ling table in the center of the room which was pretty close to our neighbors. If you're looking for privacy I recommend making a reservation and asking for a seat on the sides of the room. The shows happen every 30 minutes and they are so much fun! The first show was Jessica Rabbit esque and really good!! The second show was an elderly couple and the wife cea out of a birthday cake and dances to Rihanna's "Cake" it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Highly recommend! Honestly, I can't even remember the quality of the drinks because I was so focused on the show. I definitely need to go back!

I had a really fun night at Charade Speakeasy. Hidden behind The Balboa Bar and Grill in Bankers Hill, the place has that classic speakeasy vibe—dim lighting, cozy seating, and a mysterious atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel special. The cocktails were well-crafted and creative, and the energy of the room was great. What I liked most is that every night can be different—sometimes there are live performances, comedy, or karaoke, which keeps the experience unpredictable and exciting. Overall, it’s a cool hidden gem if you enjoy unique cocktail bars and a slightly mysterious nightlife experience in San Diego. Definitely a fun spot for a night out with friends or a date.

I hosted a private, black tie after party with a DJ at Charades and it was the perfect venue. I love the style of the space, the staff was accommodating and awesome, and the event itself was a smashing success. Great sound system, the projectors add amazing ambiance, and all the infrastructure to support a great party. Highly recommend this place!

What a cool experience! We had the legendary burgers at The Balboa and then drinks at Charades. From the performance to the staff, the experience was perfect. The drinks, specifically the cold 6000, was my favorite drink of the night. Highly recommended!

It was fun!!! Didnt know what to expect before december nights but the MC was fun and let us do karaoke. Great extension to the balboa grill! We don't have a ton of nightlife in Bankers Hill so this is a great addition to this area for locals.

This place is so much fun!! My friend and I came here to take a look at the speak easy and the staff are amazing!! There wasn’t a show scheduled tonight but the allowed a random group to do improv then let the whole bar sing karaoke!! Everyone was so supportive and the drinks were so good!! I tried 4 different ones and they were all top tier!! 10/10 recommend for everyone!!!

haven’t laughed this much in a while. atmosphere is top notch. highly recommend coming here for an evening!
