Big Country Hotel & Suites, a Best Western Surestay Collection Boutique Hotel

I had such a great experience at Big Country Hotel in Abilene! The staff was super friendly and made me feel really welcome from the moment I checked in. The room was clean, comfy, and had everything I needed. The bed was cozy, and the whole place felt quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was good, and the location was super convenient — close to everything but still nice and peaceful. You can tell they really take pride in keeping the hotel nice and taking care of their guests. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Abilene!

Positive: Clean big rooms and well maintained Negative: Used this several times but there is always something not working. This time it was the new ice machine and the Wifi internet was out and had been for several weeks, Did not need to work remote this time but have in the past. This will be our last visit

So the hotel is beautiful. It's very clean. The staff is very nice. I booked a room through my United app when I booked my airline tickets picked my room out did a little research then hit the purchase button. I got to the hotel checked in the nice woman Diane behind the counter helps us. We then go up to our room and we cannot open our door. So I go downstairs and talk to Miss Diane she then informs me that that room key does not work so that when we come and go we will have to be let in our room every time buy an employee. So then the thermostat wasn't working and it was hot in the room so I went back downstairs. Ms Diane then takes me up to 303 instead of a king bed it's two beds but at least the room's cool so I take it but again the room key card thing does not work we still are having to go downstairs and stop at the desk and say hey I need to go back in my room can you let us in ridiculous

I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE. My family and I stayed a weekend in Abilene and chose this hotel bc the pictures look nice, but the rooms aren’t that nice. First of all the hallways are completely stained with who knows what. My in laws were in the same hotel that weekend and there were food crumbs in their room, showing their room wasn’t properly cleaned. We then noticed there were roaches in our rooms and we weren’t the only one. My mom was in her room and stated she went to lie down and she got up and there was a roach in her HAIR! It was disgusting. My husband went to talk to the front and ask for a refund after the first night because we didn’t want to stay in filth and one of the "managers" immediately got defensive and was rude to him, didn’t even try to talk or level with him at all. Overall our experience was not great and my in laws and my mom didn’t have a great experience at all either. Also if you’re looking for a hotel with a bar, pool, or gym set up this won’t be the one you want. They have none of the above.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Full transparancy, I didnt end up staying here. However, I did book a stay. The incorrect dates were booked and for a year later; I dont believe I made this error; I am relatively certain there was some glitch..bc this doesnt make sense. I dont care that what your policies state regarding refunds/cancellations/changes. There is something called "spirit of the law." You would not be taking a loss with my change. This was supposed to be a fun stay for a swim meet. You could have done SOMETHING! You chose greed over common sense customer service. No, you are choosing to keep my hard earned money instead of doing any number of right things. Seriously, you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself.

The location couldn’t be better — close to restaurants, stores, and family attractions around Abilene. It was convenient to get in and out of town, and we never had trouble finding what we needed nearby. The free breakfast was a big plus, especially with kids. There was something for everyone, and the dining area was clean and inviting. Between the friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and great location, it really felt like a home away from home. We’ll definitely stay at Big Country Hotel & Suites again next time we’re in Abilene. It’s a perfect choice for families looking for a clean, comfortable, and affordable place to stay with genuine Texas hospitality.
