The George of Old Town

The George is a one of a kind stay in Old Town! The home is georgous with beautifully decorated rooms and a comfy outdoor terrace. The space was the perfect location for my small intimate wedding. My family could not say enough at how unique the home is and how it is in the best location for taking in Old Town. The owner Jim was beyond helpful and very communicative during my wedding planning process. Would highly recommend staying here if you have the opportunity!

I couldn't have been more impressed with my stay at The George of Old Town, and I can't wait to return! While I'm not much of a history buff, staying at The George felt like a monumental experience. The kitchen we used was originally built for Martha Washington during George and Martha's time in Alexandria, which added a special touch to our visit. The building itself is gorgeous, perfectly blending historical charm with modern updates. The space was clean, well-kept, and exuded luxury with thoughtful design details throughout. We had the pleasure of meeting the hosts at the end of our trip—they are truly amazing people. They were responsive throughout our stay and provided excellent recommendations for dinner. The location is ideal—you can walk to everything. We were able to park our car in the back of the building (free of charge), which is on a first-come, first-served basis. We were lucky enough to snag a spot easily. This trip was a family getaway with my mom and kids, and I was pleasantly surprised by how kid-friendly the inn was, which is something I often struggle to find. I'm excited to return with my husband next time. It will be so special for my kids to share this experience with their classmates as they continue to learn about the presidents. From start to finish, this was a 5-star experience!

We had an amazing stay at The George! The property was super clean, beds were so comfortable, and the owners were so helpful and accommodating. We had my daughter's first birthday party at the property and all of our family was able to stay there with us. The property perfectly blends history with modern design making the experience extra special! Everyone had such a great time. We will absolutely be staying at The George again soon!!

Don't come to Alexandria and stay in a hotel. Instead, have an experience. The George is one of Alexandria's most distinguished historic properties. The space is amazing and lovingly preserved. The beds are lush and comfortable. The host is responsive to any questions that might arise and gives that personal touch. Not only will be able to tell people that you slept on property once owned by George Washington, you will have an enriching and beautiful experience that you'll remember for years. I have stayed in several historic properties in Old Town, but none are like The George.

We stayed at the George for one night. Great location in Alexandria within a block of walking to shops and downtown. A great location if you are spending a day in DC and want to stay outside of the city. Room was clean. There is parking on a first come first serve basis in the back. The alley way is curved and tight. The main entrance is in the back, and there is very limited light if you are coming through at night. I will say there could be improvement on ensuring a more secure space. Door codes allow for access to the building through one main door and all rooms have their own codes. For the main door, it is up to the guests to ensure they lock the door behind them at all times (it is not automatic). There is no access from the front door, making for only one exist and entrance that is available. The downstairs and outside by could use more lighting. It is an old building, so walls are thin. Overall, stay was good. At times, didn’t always feel the most secure. However, location was great and room was clean.

Great location! Near restaurants and shops! Love this historic home with all its details! Convenient parking, too-which is rare in Old Town Alexandria. Went for a girls weekend. We stayed in the Zachary Taylor Suite, which has two comfy beds. Next time I’d love to return with a larger group to rent all the rooms and cook in George Washington’s kitchen. Highly recommend and definitely will return!

Absolute perfect spot for our weekend getaway! The host provided excellent communication and support during our stay. The "Madison" room was great. Spacious, comfortable bed and modern bath. Excellent street view of historic Alexandria. Beautiful historic home with tasteful updates throughout. The gorgeous kitchen included a coffee bar. The dining and sitting rooms are excellent for larger groups and families. Don’t be concerned about the non working fireplaces. We stayed during one of the coldest nights and were plenty warm. The room also included heating fans. Parking is also very convenient directly behind the home. Dining options are numerous and a short walk away. The George of Old Town exceeded our expectations. We will definitely book again!
