The lady that I checked in with about 7 PM was nice (Saturday evening). The lady at 330 in the morning (Saturday/Sunday night auditor) was rude. No response to my questions. Her response, "Are you a guest here?" I wanted to say, "No, I just like walking down your stairs and hanging out in the lobby for coffee." She was a lot nicer at breakfast. Appreciate the turnaround. Housekeeping needs to learn simple cleaning, under the table below the TV, it’s all I see, spots missed. I tip for service, not rudeness or missed spots. I clean private property in north Idaho. This was gross, wonder why I do a quick clean upon entry. 2 AM someone pounding on a door and 830 AM dogs just bark and bark and bark. This place, I’d rather spend the extra money for a nice and clean place!
Positive: Very clean. Kept sidewalks clear during snowstorms, Negative: Breakfast bar was limited. Besides waffles no other hot item like eggs, breakfast meat, boiled eggs, yogurt, more then one cereal, very limited for 4 day stay. Compared to other hotels I stayed in area. ( same price comparable rate).
This is one of Anchorage’s best-kept secrets. From the street, the hotel has an attractive appearance, and the lobby offers an upscale feel. As other reviewers have noted, booking the discounted room rate means you will get a standard exterior-entry room rather than one of the more plush interior rooms. That said, the exterior rooms—where I have stayed several times—are consistently clean, warm, comfortable, and tasteful. The hotel has a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle, and the front desk staff are efficient and helpful. Breakfast is included and offers a solid selection. Overall, this is a strong value, and I have always been satisfied with my stays. Recommended.
Fantastic staff, beautiful lobby and clean rooms. It's a great place to stay, especially if you are catching a flight at Ted Steven's Airport. Free shuttle that is easy to catch, just a phone call away. Great price as well. Highly recommend.
We had been warned that this place was a dive, however, we were pleasantly surprised at our accommodations. The staff went above and beyond to shuttle us to/from the airport, carry our bags, make dining recommendations, and get us checked in. We chose this hotel because we have our pet. We were on the first floor with easy access to the outside.
Our group's flight had gotten postponed so we had to scramble to get rooms. It took over 30 minutes to check us in, the staff did not seem to know what they were doing. They gave each of us three keys for our room. They forgot to put our names on each envelope so we had to wait even longer while they redid the keys. Our rooms were in the annex which is half a block away. You must drag your luggage down the sidewalk yourself. The annex is located on an extremely busy intersection so traffic is very loud which you can hear while you're trying to sleep. Upon opening the main door to the building, we were hit with a wall of heat. No problem, surely the room must be cool. None of my three keys worked so I had to drag my luggage back down to the main building to get new keys. I did not feel safe walking by myself so a friend accompanied me thankfully. Once I was able to get into my room, I was again hit by a wall of heat. The a/c was set on 60 but it had to be at least 80+. My room was on the ground floor so there was no sleeping with the window open. I did get a small fan from the front desk that looked like it was from the 50s which barely worked and threw off warm air. This was like being in a sweat box. I could not breathe, it was unbearable. The bathtub had black on the caulking (mold?) and the toilet had stains under the rim. Supposedly the hotel is under renovation but I'm not sure if it will include the annex. I ended up sleeping in my clothes and on top of the bedspread. I couldn't wait to leave. The photos that appear on the website certainly did not look like the room I stayed in. Wish I had taken my own photos but I couldn't wait to get out of there.
SCAM HOTEL...NEVER EVER STAY HERE !!!! THIS PLACE they ILLEAGALLY CHARGED MY CARD.. THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW. I BOOKED A DOUBLE QUEEN AND GOT A RM WITH A DOUBLE BED AND A TWIN BED. Couldnt take a shower, toilet was plugged and feces on shower curtain. 2nd night changed rm. Cause toilet didn't work and shower curtain was filthy, tile floor had tears in it, 2 buildings AND BREAKFAST?? AN away from office, ice walkways 2nd night moved to a rm in main building for double amount, pillows were rock hard and plumbing was barely working. Toilet flused very slowly, sink drained very slow.. We checked out and next day was looking at charges and noticed a 50$ charge for ??? called PUFFIN INN and was told we had a "poop stain" on the carpet??? LIE, LIE.. SO JESSIE SAID THEY HAD TO SHAMPOO.. WE GATHERED OUR TOWLES AND EVEN BAGGED OUR TRASH. THE ROOM WAS NOT A MESS !! THIS HOTEL NEEDS ANOTHER OPERATOR. THIS VERY YOUNG WOMAN WHEN CALLED SAID SHE WAS THE MANANGER WHEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO THE MANANGER.. The maid couldn't speak English, maybe an illegal. There were lots of barking dogs and a dog fight, bad atmosphere. Beds were old, no comfort. Our first room was not secure or safe. Breakfast consisted of muffins and bagels, 1 waffle maker FOR ALL THE GUEST and wasn't there on 2nd day and was over at 9 AM, burnt coffee- as it was made at 5 am and never remade.. 🙃 NEVER STAY HERE THEIR ALSO WAS A $250. DEPOSIT??? NEVER STAY HERE, THE MAID WAS THE DRIVER FOR THE SHUTTLE..and the maintenance man, and the food helper ?? Dirty. Cheap air beds, u sit on 1 side and the other side popped up.. NEVER.. I shouldn't have to pay for the 1st night, I'm disabled and was treated horrible..
