Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center

I have stayed here before for the Mardi Gras ball, and it's nice; however, I will never stay here again. I go to Baton Rouge every year, and I am from Louisiana. This year, I booked through Expedia to get a good rate. Unfortunately, an ice storm is expected the night of the ball, which will make my travel from Texas dangerous, so my plans are being canceled. I contacted Expedia to cancel the reservation, which in turn contacted Stacy (the Hilton manager) to request a refund. She declined. I called her to explain my situation. She said call Expedia. I then told her that Expedia had contacted her and that she could grant the refund. She then told me she doesn't refund un-refundable rates, and since I didn't book through them, it was basically too bad. This is just poor customer service and a manager who has a superiority complex. No worries, Stacy, I won't be staying at your hotel again.

Positive: Staff made the valet parking rate , and experience, much more tolerable through her professionalism and concern for her guests. I hope I got her name right, I just remember her as the one with blond hair and perfectly engaging smile. Negative: No free parking... anywhere. The choice is either valet @ $37/ night, or paid parking on the street at a comparable rate.

We truly appreciated the warm and attentive staff during our stay. From check-in to departure, everyone was welcoming and professional. The evening reception was a wonderful touch, and breakfast the next morning was fresh, well-prepared, and enjoyable. The hospitality team really stood out and made us feel valued as guests. Unfortunately, the condition of the room did not reflect the same level of care. There was a persistent smoke odor that lingered throughout our stay, even with the AC running. We noticed black residue in the AC vents, mildew in the shower, and visible soap scum buildup on the shower glass. There was also no hair dryer available in the room, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the coffee maker was dirty upon arrival, which was disappointing and honestly unpleasant to discover. With such attentive staff and thoughtful amenities like the evening reception and breakfast, addressing deeper cleaning and maintenance issues would greatly improve the overall guest experience. We hope these concerns are taken seriously so future guests can fully enjoy what the hotel clearly has the potential to offer. (No apology offered-when informed and provided pictures)

Baton Rouge Hilton Capitol My stay at the Baton Rouge Hilton Capitol was truly a lovely experience. While it’s an older hotel, that’s exactly what gives it its charm. The property feels like stepping into the past and then being gently pulled into the present — a warm, quaint blend of vintage character and modern comfort. The beautiful river view from the hotel added an unexpected touch of serenity and made the stay feel even more special. Room service breakfast was outstanding. I ordered the French toast stuffed with hazelnut and topped with pecans, along with a granola yogurt parfait, a fresh fruit bowl, and à la carte grits and turkey sausage. Everything was delicious — flavorful, well-prepared, and delivered with care. Later that evening, my cousin and I visited the bar and ordered from the Lite Bite menu. The fried shrimp and cocktails were amazing. Herb made the experience even better with his helpful, amusing personality, and the Bellman from Zachary, Louisiana was equally outstanding. Their hospitality truly stood out. Between the charm of the hotel, the exceptional service, the great food, and that peaceful river view, I’m already looking forward to staying here again on my next visit. I would definitely recommend the Baton Rouge Hilton Capitol to anyone who appreciates character, comfort, and genuine Southern hospitality.

I traveled here for a conference, and brought my dog with me since she is quite elderly and I don't leave her at this point in her life. Every single staff member was so friendly and welcoming to her (and me too). It's not the newest hotel, but it's comfortable and clean and has a nice bar area and conference Center, and the staff friendliness just really sealed the deal for me. Also really great location by the river!

Location can’t be beat! Front desk staff and bar staff were great! Furniture is worn. Elevators were glitching. TV didn’t work and had to be serviced which occurred after we reported it and while we were gone to our event. Discovered the fridge wasn’t working when we returned. It was reported and resolved while we were out of the room. French fries had been cooked in old fish cooking oil. Took 45 minutes to get our car from valet parking.

We had a mixed experience at this hotel. Our stay was for 7 days, my wife attended a convention downstairs while I worked remotely from our room. Pros: + All staff were super friendly and helpful the whole stay. One of the friendliest hotels I’ve been at. + the included van shuttle to and from the airport was greatly appreciated. Also the fact that they held our bags post-checkout until we were ready to head to the airport a few hours later. + The hotel is located within a few blocks of a lot of good food options, as well as a nice grocery store. We never felt like we were going to run out of food options. Good for if you are staying 5+ days. Also having the Mississippi River a block away was cool. + the bed and pillows were very comfortable Cons: - the refrigerator in our room hardly worked. Our milk and other dairy products spoiled within 3 days, and any drinks stored in the fridge could barely be called cool. - there was no microwave in our room, and there are only 3 microwaves in the whole building. It was quite inconvenient needing to leave the room and going to a different floor to reheat leftovers. - the breakfast buffet is not free. The hotel never claims it’s free so I can’t be too disappointed. However the one time we went down to have the buffet, it wasn’t open and they were only offering a sit-down breakfast service (menu and server). Again, would be fine, however the food we were served seemed to be on par with a mediocre hotel breakfast buffet. $45 for two. Couple other minor notes: - the shampoo and shower gel provided were super oily and hard to wash out (not sure if that’s a Hilton-wide thing or a location-specific thing). - TV remote only responded to like 30% of inputs, very sluggish. - The hotel wifi went out for the second half of the day on Friday, interfering with my work day. None of the cons by themselves are super significant, but all of them added together was enough to be a little annoying. Overall great service by the hotel workers, but the room amenities have some room for improvement.
