Courtyard by Marriott Birmingham Grandview

This hotel was amazing! I think it just recently opened, so everything was new and beautiful! We only stayed one night, but wish we would have been staying longer! We used the Marriot Bonvoy app to check in and out and it was perfect and seamless, so easy!! Only complaint is that the AC in the room was RIGHT by the thermostat, so the AC unit would not run very long before it would cut off so the whole room would not cool off.

The hotel was good but not great, when we first got there we waited almost two hours just for us to check in and we already had book a room, we were prepared and it took a really long time, it was ridiculous I don’t know if the person in front of us were friends with the woman at the front desk, but I’m not sure people are going to be okay with that. The beds were uncomfortable the mattress felt like sleeping on the ground, the hotel breakfast wasn’t so bad but it’s just as normal as getting it anywhere else, we were only there for one night but it wasn’t great I’m not trying to be mean I’m just giving my opinion, I know it’s new and all, but I hope it can improve, your better off doing one or two nights here, not anything over like three or five.

Nice hotel. I wish I could have stayed longer however I stayed one night and my service was amazing. The person who checked me in also provided great service at the bar. She was very patient and attentive. Beautiful pool and the fire pit on the balcony was amazing I had a wonderful time with strangers and felt a warm welcome from staff. I will return thank you

I have to say, this is one of the nicest Courtyard by Marriott / Residence Inn by Marriott buildouts I’ve ever seen—honestly, some Autograph Collection Hotels properties don’t even compare. The design, finishes, and overall aesthetic are impressive and feel far above the typical brand standard. That said, the staffing experience really detracts from it. The same team members are checking guests in, preparing food, and acting as bartenders—which leads to long waits and a lack of consistency. Unfortunately, even very basic drinks were not made correctly. Additionally, the property’s address/location setup caused issues with Uber, making it difficult for drivers to find the hotel. For a newer property, this should be clearly resolved to avoid guest frustration on arrival. For a newer property, cleanliness is also an opportunity. There were noticeable areas that felt overlooked, including some details that seem like they may have been missed during the initial buildout. Overall, the physical space is outstanding, but the service execution and operational consistency don’t currently match the level of the property.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but this place needs to be called out. The address listed on their profile takes you somewhere else, the staff is clueless, 2/3 of the gym equipment didn’t work, they charged me for a refill of coffee while most places have it available in the lobby for free. Like come on. I know this place just opened but they don’t have the right staff to get it right. I have stayed at the Marriott next door many times and while it’s super outdated, it’s a better experience than this place. Would recommend staying away.

Hotel was horrible had bugs called the front desk took the guy hour to move a us. We also had a raw Burger and we gave it back to them. They did not issue us a refund. The guy on front desk was saying everyday it’s something everyday.
