I had a great experience staying at this hotel. I originally chose to visit because one of my professors at Texas A&M University worked on the building as a preservation project, helping transform it into the hotel it is today. Knowing that academic and preservation background made the stay feel more meaningful from the start. I will admit I was a little nervous at first, especially given that the building originally served as an insane asylum and later a hospital. That history is impossible to ignore when you first arrive. However, after checking in, and interacting with the staff, that initial uneasiness faded quickly. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and over time the building began to feel comfortable. There also were not many people checked in during my visit. I am guessing this was due to seasonal downtime caused by the heavy snow and frigid temperatures in the area this year. When I checked in, there were only about five cars in the parking lot, which added to the eeriness of the experience, especially given the building’s past. Overall, it was a memorable experience. I will definitely be back for the bar and museum not too sure if I’ll be staying again though.

The Richardson Hotel has a unique character that makes it stand out from typical places to stay. The building itself has a historic and impressive look, and the interior keeps that same atmosphere with spacious hallways and a calm, elegant design. My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything set up the right way for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the lighting was warm, and the space felt peaceful from the moment I walked in. The staff were welcoming and professional, handling everything smoothly from check-in to checkout. The lobby and common areas were well maintained and added to the overall experience of staying somewhere with real architectural charm. The hotel feels like a blend of history and comfort, and it makes the stay feel more meaningful compared to standard modern hotels. Overall, The Richardson Hotel offered a comfortable, quiet, and memorable experience in a beautiful historic setting. It’s definitely worth staying here if you want something unique and relaxing.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It’s clean, has beautiful grounds, and I love that it has its own history. The rooms are small, but the high ceilings make them feel more open, and the soundproofing is excellent. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Such a wonderful and unique experience staying at the Richardson. The first floor has a museum dedicated to its rich history as a former mental institution. The ball room upstairs looked like it would be a great space for a large event. Rooms were comfortable and modern. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Bar was beautiful. GO BILLS!

Beautiful remodel. Rooms are nice, comfy bed. Views leave a bit to be desired in some rooms. Chief complaint, and reason to lose a star, is the breakfast. Less offerings than Motel 6. Not even cream cheese for the low quality bagels. Nothing warm unless you toast a bagel. Truly slim pickings. I wouldn't even mind paying for breakfast, just give us something warm to eat.

What an imposing yet lovely hotel! We stayed for three nights at the Richardson. The room and bed were very comfortable. We enjoyed the bar area and had dinner there. Food and service were excellent despite it being a very busy Saturday night with the Holiday Market in front of the hotel. Staff was friendly, surrounding area quiet and beautiful. Can't wait to stay here again. Go BuffaLO!!

I had a great stay at this beautiful hotel. It’s not in the most convenient location depending on what you are doing in Buffalo, but it’s still a great option. Historic building/property. Spacious rooms with high ceilings. Friendly staff. Food on site. Free parking.
