Pelican Cove Inn

I want to give this place more than 5 stars. First, they helped me with some personal matters. All the staff (Alfredo, the manager and the cleaning staff - didn’t catch their names) were great!! Really appreciate them. The room itself was spacious with lots of light and so comfy. I really loved my stay here, and cannot recommend it enough if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in Carlsbad.

The room was not clean, carpet had stains all over, doors and case was dirty. No Ac so room was hot all night long even with windows open. No micro in room or coffee make

It's not the Scandia but it's not thr Springhill either. The rooms are relatively clean but dated. Obvious things are missing like the hand towel ring in the bathroom and a second night stand for a king bed. There is no front desk staff and they are not responsive by text. Make sure to grab some extra toilet paper from the supply room if the leave some in there. Overall, it's a middle of the road option if you are looking for something affordable near the beach and the village.

Our stay at Pelican Cove Inn was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! The location is beautiful and peaceful — just steps from the beach/ocean, with charming coastal vibes everywhere you look. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated, making it feel more like a home than a hotel. The staff was responsive and communicative. Their was complimentary coffee and snacks provided in the lobby. Also, complimentary chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Everything was beautifully presented — such a lovely touch to start the day. We truly appreciated all the little details that made our visit memorable: the comfortable beds, the relaxing atmosphere, and the personal hospitality that’s hard to find these days. We can’t wait to come back — Pelican Cove Inn is an absolute gem on the coast! 🌊💙

We stayed at Pelican Cove Inn during a stop over in Carlsbad, the hotel had great reviews and the website had said it was largely sold out during our time in the area; luckily the hotel is located a very short walk from the main promenade and bars. However the rooms are very dated, the air con struggled to cool the room and the ambiance of the hotel meant that we spent as little time as possible at the hotel. Externally the hotel is visually stunning, however internally it would need a lot of modernisation.

I booked via Expedia and inadvertently selected the current date for check in instead of the following week which is what I meant to do. I booked non-cancellable, knowing we would definitely stay there. I realized my mistake right away and called Pelican Cove directly to request changing my booking to the correct week. They said sorry - you booked it as non-cancellable, so we cannot allow you to cancel and re-book. I tried to discuss but they hung up on me. I contacted Expedia and they tried for two days - the ownership refused. So that was $200 wasted with our business going to a competitor and this review written. Pretty short-sighted, all over a simple mistake on the part of their customer.

Great room, (double) though they were pressed together as if one bed, so if you are not close to the person sharing the double room with could be weird. Location was amazing, walking distance to the beach. Offered chairs and boogie boards to guests. No interaction was necessary for check in or out, which is a pro for some. I would definitely stay again.
