I had an overall very positive stay at Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, particularly in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and location. The hotel itself is clean, modern, and spacious. My room, located above the 30th floor, offered an excellent view of the city through large windows, especially beautiful both during the day and at night. The room was well maintained, comfortable, and quiet, making it ideal for rest after long conference days. The staff deserves special recognition, especially the housekeeping and cleaning crew. They were consistently friendly, professional, and attentive, which made the stay feel welcoming and well cared for. The elevators are efficient despite the size of the hotel, and the bar and restaurant areas are well designed, lively, and convenient for both casual meetings and relaxing evenings. The location on the Magnificent Mile is a major advantage. It’s perfect for conferences, dining, shopping, and walking around downtown Chicago, with easy access to many key attractions. However, the main reason I am not giving a full 5 stars is due to issues with the booking and finance/administrative side of the hotel. My stay involved multiple payment sources—my university card for a conference booking and my personal credit card for additional expenses. Unfortunately, there were double charges and booking overlaps, and resolving these issues was slow and frustrating. It required weeks of repeated phone calls and follow-ups, and even then, reimbursement was only partially resolved after a long delay. The booking/finance staff were not as responsive or cooperative as expected for a hotel of this caliber. In summary, this is an excellent hotel in terms of comfort, service (especially housekeeping), amenities, and location. If the booking and financial coordination were more efficient and customer-friendly, it would easily deserve 5 stars. Despite that drawback, I would still recommend the hotel, especially for conferences or downtown stays, while advising guests to carefully monitor billing and payments.
Location is great; there is so much within steps of the hotel. The lobby is gorgeous and I loved the view from my room. However, the destination fee ($30 per day) they charge is kinda annoying. I get that they are trying to encourage taking advantage of amenities within the hotel, I would rather be given vouchers for things I might be interested instead of being charged for it whether I use the amenity or not. The bathroom in my room was also kinda small, and it didn't make much sense that bath products were full sized, but they have a tiny tube of lotion instead of a full sized pump bottle. Other hotels I stayed in had full sized products that were refilled by housekeeping.
This hotel exceeded expectations. It was so convenient in downtown, easy to get to. The staff was helpful and accommodating from the door men to the front desk, maids, and all other staff encountered. The Marriott elite longe was very well maintained and offered a large variety of various snacks and drinks on a daily basis. The staff was working so hard and it was an excellent spot to work remotely. The rooms were very nice, quiet, and had an awesome city view. I was able to get WiFi easily in the room and it was regularly cleaned. It had plenty of space and the water pressure from the shower was adequate. There were many floors and elevators, so it could get a little confusing if you aren’t familiar but overall pretty straightforward. They were very busy during the week with conferences and business people. The lobby was grandiose and had a bar as well as a convenience store with snacks and other offerings. The Lyfts and Ubers were always right outside waiting and it felt safe at night as they lock the doors by 8 or 9pm. Overall, great stay, great hotel!
Marriott Titanium. ||One date night stay. ||Pros:|- Location: walkable to everything you need. |- Gym: huge with everything you may want/need to get a good workout in. |- Room: was upgraded to top floor suite. Was spacious with a great view. ||Cons:|- Lounge: felt small and a bit lacking for a hotel this size. Everyone was nice and professional, but a bit small and not much amenities when not serving breakfast. Was not able to get a cup of coffee. ||Would stay again.
I've visited this hotel several times because my daughter lives in Chicago. While my favorite place to stay is The Thompson, it's not always available or in my price pocket.||I have never been disappointed by staying in the Marriott Downtown. My feeling is that we're truly not going to spend that much time in the hotel room - Chicago has so many wonderful places to visit - so unless it's for a 'romantic/anniversary' event I'm happy staying here.||The hotel is perfectly located. The staff is lovely and helpful. The hotel and rooms are clean. The free breakfast gets me started on my day, and the happy hour helps with the transition to evening. There are several great areas to socialize with friends if you don't want to bring them up to your room and , all-in-all, it is terrific.
We recently stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile with our hockey team and had a very disappointing experience. The property is run-down, and we had to replace the in-room refrigerator three times. I have a medical condition requiring me to bring all my own food, making this especially inconvenient and stressful. Safety was a concern—our door lock wasn’t properly secured and wasn’t even screwed in, leaving me feeling unsafe traveling with my younger son. The hotel has over 16 floors but a very small, overcrowded fitness center. With temperatures at -11 degrees, outdoor exercise wasn’t an option, and many parents—including myself—couldn’t use the facility. Several families also had to switch rooms due to issues during the stay. Valet service was consistently delayed. Families waited 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to retrieve vehicles, even with proper tipping, creating additional stress and delays. On top of these issues, the hotel charged our team over $2,600 in attrition—despite Marriott contracts we have used for years never including or enforcing attrition. Rooms were even dropped from our complimentary booking link just a week after booking. While the property eventually reduced the fee to $238, the lack of professionalism remains troubling. I personally requested a call from the manager, Amanda, and left a voicemail but never received a response. It is frustrating that the manager did not have time to discuss these issues yet felt confident enforcing charges. Overall, this stay was stressful, inconvenient, and did not meet the standards expected from Marriott or Courtyard properties. Families and teams should carefully reconsider staying here.
Room was a little noisy - walls seem a little thinner than expected but overall the room and the view were both very nice. Location was ideal for everything we wanted to do. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel gym is easily the nicest hotel gym I have ever used. So much equipment and it is all well maintained
