I'm so glad a friend of mine encouraged us to stay here for our anniversary despite some of the not so great reviews. They have definitely improved their game since they opened. From the moment we were greeted by Dawn at reception to walking into our room at sunset and seeing the gorgeous view, to a yummy appetizer and spicy marg at Marzul, to the steak house and the many pools, we received fabulous service! What a fun vibe! The size of the screen in the sports bar was definitely Vegas huge and I found their speakeasy too. Just poked my head in thru the freezer, but seemed cool. We will definitely make this our new staycation location even if just for a day visit or for dinner. Can't wait to try the sushi restaurant next time! Go and enjoy!!

Location and pools are 10/10. Nice for everything to be brand new with no issues. As for the restaurants onsite, they are much too expensive and limited menu. Only went to the sports bar which has an awesome environment, but very limited menu and much too expensive. The rest of my time at the resort, we left into town to eat.The serving staff at the pools either hate their job or are overworked. Everytime I stopped one to order food/drinks they kept telling me they would either be back or said they would let our area server know.....waited about an hour before I walked to the bad and ordered drinks myself. Terrible attitudes and hospitality in the pools.

Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista is one of the newest and most impressive resort developments in Southern California. Sitting right along the San Diego Bay waterfront, the property is massive and designed to handle everything from large conventions to family vacations and weekend getaways. The first thing you notice is the scale. The resort is huge, modern, and built to feel like a full destination rather than just a hotel. The architecture and design are beautiful, with large open spaces, glass walls, and views looking out over the water and marina. The rooms are modern and comfortable, many with balconies that take advantage of the bay views. The resort also offers multiple restaurants, bars, and lounges, making it easy to spend a full day or weekend on the property without needing to leave. Because it’s built as a convention resort, there are enormous event and meeting spaces, which will likely make it a major destination for conferences and large gatherings in the San Diego area. At the same time, the resort still works well for leisure travelers who want something upscale and close to the water. Overall, Gaylord Pacific brings a completely different scale of resort experience to the South Bay. If you’re attending an event, planning a staycation, or visiting the San Diego waterfront area, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The Gaylord Hotel in Chula Vista, San Diego is absolutely fabulous. From the moment you arrive, the property makes a strong impression with its beautiful design and outstanding hospitality. The rooms are very spacious, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable, making it easy to relax and enjoy the stay. The service throughout the hotel is truly amazing. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, accommodating, and eager to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel offers five different restaurants, and each one delivers excellent food and a great atmosphere, providing plenty of variety without ever needing to leave the property. The pool area is outstanding, with breathtaking ocean views that create a resort-style experience. Whether relaxing poolside or enjoying the surrounding amenities, everything is well-maintained and thoughtfully designed. Overall, the Gaylord Hotel in Chula Vista exceeds expectations in every way and is a fantastic choice for anyone visiting the San Diego area.

Stayed here for a corporate event. Rooms were spotless although I think it's a newer facility. Good restaurant options. Temp was perfect not too hot or cold. What really stood out to me was the service and friendliness of the staff. We were a very large group of over 1,000 and I never had one issue where I had trouble getting a drink or someone taking my order for food. The staff was super friendly and the front desk person made sure to say goodbye and thanks even though it was very early in the morning. The staff at this hotel wins the 5 stars in my opinion. Also has a nice view of the water.

We stayed at the Gaylord in San Diego, California for a convention with Tom Ferry, and our experience was excellent. The rooms were very nice, quiet, clean, and surprisingly spacious, which made it easy to relax after long convention days. The convention center itself is extremely well designed and accommodating. With over 2,000 people attending the event, everything flowed smoothly and never felt chaotic. It’s also conveniently located close by, which made getting back and forth effortless. One thing that really stood out was how well the hotel handled crowds. There were several spots to grab breakfast and drinks, and even during peak times, they were never overcrowded — a very pleasant surprise given the size of the event. Overall, this hotel is beautifully run, comfortable, and exceptionally organized for large conventions. We would absolutely recommend it and would gladly stay here again.

This is a beautiful new property with a lot of promise. The large atrium is stunning, bright, expansive, and definitely the visual centerpiece of the resort. The pools are gorgeous and feel thoughtfully designed, making them one of the highlights of the stay. The rooms, however, felt a bit basic for a resort of this scale. I would rank them a 4 out of 5. They are comfortable and clean, but I expected something a little more special or elevated given the brand and price point. Service is top notch. The staff is attentive, professional, and clearly trying very hard to deliver a great experience. You can tell the resort is still just finding its rhythm since it is newly opened, but the effort and care are absolutely there. A few practical notes. Parking is somewhat far from the rooms, which can be inconvenient, especially with luggage. The location in Chula Vista leaves a bit to be desired. It is close-ish to downtown San Diego, but not quite walkable or central if you are looking to explore the city easily. All onsite food options are quite expensive, which is expected at a resort but still noticeable, especially for longer stays. Overall, this is a beautiful resort with strong service, incredible common spaces, and great amenities. With a bit more time to mature and potentially elevate the room experience, it has the potential to be truly exceptional.
