Clifford House Bed & Breakfast

My husband and I stayed at the Clifford House a couple of weeks ago to visit our son who lives in Cleveland. We loved the house and its decor was beautiful! and host was wonderful and so pleasant to work with! Thanks Jim for everything to accommodate our stay. Hope to be back soon!❤️

We enjoyed our weekend stay with Jim and his lovely home. The breakfasts were stellar, we were very comfortable in our third floor suite, which was huge and well appointed. Jim was so helpful with recommendations for restaurants, points of interest and the best ice cream in the area! Highly recommend if you are wanting accessible walking areas with fun shopping and nice restaurants. So relaxing and a great start as we began a three week wandering vacation with no plan.

Loved every minute of our stay with Jim, Henry the dog and Connie the cat. Great house and location, wonderful host, amazing full breakfast, and within walking distance of many good restaurants and Mitchell's ice cream, the Westside Market, and the baseball stadium. It was like staying with family and we plan to come again next year. Thank you, Jim, for making our stay the best ever!

I'm so glad my wife and I treated ourselves to the Clifford House B & B in Cleveland’s Ohio City. We value houses steeped in history and loved this post Civil War mansion replete with period antiques and the accoutrements of contemporary comfort. The stately white staircase is stunning, the Persian rugs deep and rich, and the original wood floors finely crafted.||Jim, a retired architect and the owner, was our host. Jim’s knowledge is broad and his wit extraordinary. He was attentive to the smallest detail and gave of his time unstintingly. Realizing I had a bad case of rheumatoid arthritis, he’d kindly carried up our suitcase and even ironed my shirt for the wedding we had to attend. Our breakfast experience was something else. The long table was richly appointed with crystal goblets and authentic silver. And the breakfast Jim prepared was pure heaven: mushroom omelets done to perfection, bacon, French toast, orange juice, cranberry juice, hot coffee specially brewed — and add to that special pastries he’d procured from the iconic West Side Market: Russian cranberry rolls, Hungarian poppy-seed rolls, Ukrainian walnut rolls. What a feast! ||Jim is not just a delightful conversationalist, he is a sweet guy all around. Did I mention that he’s in his 70’s and is still an award-winning swimmer?

Jim the host of Clifford House has a heart of GOLD. If your looking for a perfect place to stay in Cleveland this B&B is the best. It is one block from Lutheran Hospital. You can park your car and walk to amazing restaurants, the market etc. This trip to Cleveland was not a vacation but Jim sure helped turn it into one. Breakfast was fit for a queen with china and fresh ground coffee and organic fruits and veggies in our omelet. Jim, thank you fir making a tense time in Cleveland relaxing!!!! (BTW my hubby is healing well).

Lovely and charming older home. Jim is a kind and considerate host, and if you’re interested in having a conversation, he’s lived a full life and is happy to share his experiences and opinions. Henry the dog is a big selling point: he’s a big sweetheart. As Jim will point out to you, this is not Colonial Williamsburg. This is a real living neighborhood in an honest to god American city. Don’t expect high tea or lace doilies. Instead, expect a clean room with some real character, a house that feels like a home (remember that your home needs repairs sometimes too!), a very good breakfast, and a host who knows his city and can teach you a lot about it if you’re interested in learning.
