Des Moines Marriott Downtown

I really don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I was disappointed with the quality of room service during my stay. Please see the attached picture — the presentation and overall quality were not what I would expect. For the price and standard of the hotel, this felt below expectations. It did not seem fresh, and the attention to detail was clearly lacking. Room service is an important part of the guest experience, and this did not meet basic quality standards. That said, I do want to mention something positive. The receptionist was very kind and professional. When I raised my concerns, they were understanding and even arranged a room for me on a different floor, which I truly appreciated. Their responsiveness and courtesy were commendable. I hope management looks into the room service quality while continuing to maintain the excellent front desk service.

From Allisha’s friendly professionalism helping with our booking to Mike’s energy on the transportation team this hotel is the place to be! Easy access to the skywalk and tons of local gems. Clean spacious rooms make you feel at home.

This is a comfortable hotel that is a good quality and a good price. The rooms are large, well maintained, have the standard Marriott amenities. The bathrooms are small but have walk-in showers that are spacious and clean. |It is conveniently located on the downtown elevated skywalk, so you can easily reach many offices or other downtown locations without going outside. |The on-site restaurant, Mash and Marrow, was average and overpriced. I ordered shrimp for my pasta dish and got 5 small shrimp added. For an extra $12. The churros for dessert were delicious.|If you want a hotel shuttle to/from the airport, they only run once an hour at most times so it is a reasonable price (cheaper than uber or a taxi) but the timing is not very convenient.

I just want to take a moment to appreciate the Marriott Downtown Des Moines team "laila" for their outstanding hospitality and professionalism! As a décor vendor, I’ve worked with many venues — but the experience here truly stood out. From the moment we arrived for setup, the staff was welcoming, organized, and so accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure every detail was handled smoothly, creating a stress-free environment that allowed us to focus on what we do best — making the space beautiful! It’s always a pleasure to work with a venue that values collaboration and treats vendors with such kindness and respect. This review is only a reflection of the incredible service I received over the phone today. Booked on behalf of someone else, and messed up not once, but twice!! Spoke to the reservation department my first call, and the second time with front desk. Both ladies were FANTASTIC! So so accommodating and patient with me from start to finish, and personable too! Customer service like that is just such a rare gem these days.

This hotel is comfortable and a very good Marriott offering. The location is ideal in downtown Des Moines and is on the Skywalk, so getting places downtown without walking outside in the cold and snow is very convenient. The rooms are large and comfortable, with nice furnishings. I love that there are luxury vinyl plank floors and no carpet. The bathrooms are small but efficient. There are walk in showers without tubs, which is nice. The showers are a good size and have great water pressure and nice glass doors. There is good closet space, a safe, and a large desk. The restaurant downstairs, Mash and Marrow is so-so. It is overpriced and has a limited menu. It is in the lobby so I thought it was really cold, but it was winter. I ordered pasta and added shrimp for an extra $12. They gave me 5 very small shrimp. It was sad how small they were. The pasta was very bland and I needed to season it with my own salt since there is no salt or pepper on the tables. The churros were delicious with the dulce de leche dipping sauce. The raspberry hot pepper cream dip was weird and inedible. The servers in the restaurant were all great and very personable, kind, and food came out quickly and my soda was refilled promptly.
