Atheneum Suite Hotel

We absolutely LOVED this hotel. The room was spacious, the lighting was PERFECT for pictures. The hotel is very walkable for so many hidden gems. Worth the 3 hour drive. However I did accidentally leave my precious bedtime care bear behind 🙁 Ive been calling and transferred just to see if maybe he got rescued. I was even willing to drive the 3 hours back. He held a special place in my heart and i do hope whoever rescued him, gives him a good home and loves him has much as i love him. That was my comfort plush, i hope the next person gets to enjoy him and show him the world the same way i was able to.

The lobby is pretty, but the rooms are circa 1990s. Dated and dirty carpet, cracked and stained marble. There is no walk in shower, but a large old tub that you have to climb into with no railing for a shower. The bed is reasonably comfortable, but my toilet ran all night, the AC unit is loud and I could hear my neighbors alarm through the walls! As others noted, the staff at the bar was very nice as were the valet upfront. The old man cruising around the lobby, not sure if he is a manager was rude. Finally, the hotel is located across from a seedy gentleman’s club which had a large crowd of sketchy people out front, which I had to pass on my way back from dinner. I had limited choices when I booked this hotel because of conference traffic, and paid a premium. I will not be back here next year.

Positive: The Hotel looked classy Negative: Strippers were all over the hotel after 10pm and the elevator stopped on my way down to the lobby and I witnessed strippers having group orgies and there were little kids still running around down stairs.

Anytime we get to photograph a wedding at Atheneum, we know we are in for a good time. The venue is beautiful. The recently renovated lobby serves as a beautiful backdrop for getting ready pictures and even bridal party pics. The central location of the venue makes getting to everything in Detroit easy and convenient. The ballroom itself is big, open, and well lit. Cocktail hour on the balcony builds anticipation as guests see the finishing touches being put on the dinner plates below. The twinkle lights above the dancefloor create a warm ambiance for dances. We have never not seen the dance floor packed. With hotel rooms being on the floors above, guests stay late and party hard. It is the perfect spot for a wedding!

This place was soo cool! To stay the night. The rooms look amazing! Lots of room, amazing veiw from the 7th floor. Room rates where not to bad. Better when you have friends to split the cost. Got a shuttle to the concert venue. Everything was perfect that night.

Zach, Jay Benitez, Matthew, and Daryl, our fabulous hosts, made this place truly special. Zach crafted top-notch drinks, and Matthew made hanging out at the bar genuinely fun and welcoming. Great bar, awesome hotel, huge rooms, and a place you absolutely want to be at. The entire staff, from reception check-in to housekeeping, does an amazing job. The hotel has high ceilings, beautiful décor, and very reasonable prices. It is also perfectly located close to the border, the auto show, and major companies, which makes it even more convenient.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Atheneum! Our room was great, especially the jacuzzi tub!! It more than met our expectations - it exceeded them. We were in town for a concert and it was so lovely to decompress and relax in our room afterwards. We were also celebrating our anniversary and the atmosphere and our room overall were perfect for that. We used the valet so we didn’t have to worry about parking, and it was very easy to use - we didn’t have to wait more than a minute or two each time. Plus the hotel is so close to everything - downtown, our concert venue, and more, which made it incredibly walkable! There was a company party finishing up in conference type room on our floor when we got back from our concert. We didn’t hear the music at all when we got to our room, which was very impressive because we were just around the corner from it! Check-in and checkout was very quick and easy, and staff around the entire hotel were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
