I’ve never stayed here, but I frequently stay nearby and visit here often literally just as a way to kill time while on work trips. It’s seemingly a very nice hotel. The casino is quite nice, large, and has every game you’d want or expect to play; including a very nice poker room. It has one of the best food courts I’ve ever seen at a casino, probably the best. Very large, 360° central bar in the heart of the casino. Very nice and large sportsbook area. But the primary drawback is that this place has the worst service I’ve seen in Detroit, which typically has exceptional service and friendly people everywhere you go. Not here. In fact, the security at the entrance of the casino has been openly rude and unwelcoming towards me numerous times. And well, when your entire business model is contingent on convincing people to enter and patronize a place that is inherently designed to just take your money with no return (and in worst case scenarios, catastrophic real-life impacts), the mark of a "good" casino is their service. How much they make you want to enter and how much they make you want to stay, because their only goal is to get you to stay long enough to separate you from your money with nothing in return. So, in summary, this would be a great casino. But, because they have absolutely putrid service, that bumps them from a 5-star casino down to a 2-star casino.
Positive: Location Negative: many things. Construction on going. Woke up tp jack hammer . Elevators not working properly. Casino security very inconsistent. Couldn’t get in for example on the Saturday of my stay with same credentials that got me in wed, Thur and Fri.
We arrived on 2/21/26 for Fight Night weekend Shields vs Crews. Phenomenal stay at the Hotel. We stayed in 1036, with a beautiful view of downtown Detroit. The entire set up of the suite was beautiful and it included half bath and a master bedroomwith a full bathroom. Very pretty. We enjoyed the mini bar, which has a great variety of drinks. We enjoyed the Tap Bar where we had dinner and also breakfast. It was also nice to know that the Champ (GWOAT) was upstairs, and so was a few other celebrities. We ran into Mike. Shields brought the city out that weekend and everyone looked stunning. We played games such as roulette and a lot of slots in the casino and enjoyed the unlimited fountain drinks. We stayed until the 23rd. Thank you to my Man. We will be back in a couple of months. Treat yourself and stay here.
Okay. Here is the straight truth. Two floors below the penthouse level. Room wasn’t cleaned well, but no bugs. Casino area is good. I think it needs some other games or updated game selection. Also the thermostat in the room was not working? Set to 65 but couldn’t get it below 72 in the room. Was so hot and not a good night of sleep. Food was great though.
In town for a red wings game stayed here on a Sunday-Tuesday. The location is pretty good. You're not quite in the center of town but you are pretty walkable to downtown or to the various venues in the city. Ubers were not a problem to find, usually super quick. The casino here is fine. Plenty of slot options but tables are few and far between with really bad settings, like 6:5 black jack and mandatory side bets at the 10$ tables. Honestly, the vibe of the casino is pretty drab and depressing. No life, no cheering, no happiness, no winning, just people losing their money. The hotel is pretty good. My rate in mid January on off nights was 108$ per night, which for that rate, you get tons of value. The room is spacious and clean for you're basic King room. Honestly, no complaints on the hotel side. I'm not sure this place qualifies as a 5 star hotel like the internet says. Its for sure a 4 star. Its showing it's age a bit, but overall its very good for a few nights stay. Don't think I would want to pay anything over 250$ a night for this place.
Clean, organized gaming floor. Bathrooms attended to nicely! Go to Tap. Excellent food, the Michigan battered fish plate was spectacular and the tiramisu cake was perfectly decadent for dessert. Brandi at the bar was astounding. Making sure everything was good. Brandi was so excellent I making sure she is my bartender on my next trip and yes there will be a return trip. That good.
Very pleasant recent stay. Room was spacious and well appointed. Friendly and nice staff. Sportsbook had great viewing experience and service for football game watching. D Prime steakhouse was outstanding with great service & steak. 24 hour coffee shop & bakery on-site was nice also. Would definitely recommend and will return.
