OYO Hotel Durham West Hills

The rooms do not look like the pictures but still it was clean and a nice place to sleep. Very quiet and off the main road. Our sink doors were broken but not a big deal. There is no shampoo in the room. Staff was super nice and helpful especially when our room wasn't ready at the time specified. Only a few miles to downtown. Overall great stay!

I recently stayed at OYO Hotel Durham West Hills in Durham, NC while visiting Duke University Hospital for family medical treatment. This was supposed to be a simple, stress-free stay during an already difficult time, but unfortunately it was the complete opposite. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Only one day did someone actually come in to clean the room. On the other days, staff simply dropped off towels and removed the trash, but no real cleaning was done. That is not acceptable for a multi-day stay. There was also a bug in our room. When I reported it to the front desk, instead of apologizing or offering to send someone to address the issue, the staff member went on a rant and suggested that we brought the bug in ourselves. She stated the rooms had been exterminated seven days prior. If extermination was recently done, that indicates there was already a problem. Regardless, the proper response should have been concern and action — not blame. The overall customer service experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel, especially for families or anyone traveling for medical reasons who needs a clean, comfortable, and respectful environment. If I could give zero stars, I would. I will not be staying here again.

Very accommodating staff and quiet location. I needed a good room for 2 to 3 days to sit with my laptop and reconcile business billings. They offered to print documents from a thumb drive I had and I really give them 5 stars for being so helpful. Ultimately I moved to a location hotel closer to downtown to just be able to walk the charming and beautiful town of Durham. I also was editing some sports writing for NFL playoffs and chose to sit among fans watching the local team.

We saw bugs in the rooms, a used needle in the parking lot, and we heard a room cleaner telling another one about need bugs in the room she was cleaning. The rooms advertised look nothing like what you get. It's a filthy property and we felt extremely unsafe there. We went to another hotel.

We was supposed to have a king size mattress but they replaced the mattress with a full size mattress. The mattress was on a king size box spring that was metal. You could easily get hurt if you are not careful. Their fridge was not working. They have not given me my security deposit. I feel scammed. The only friendly service we really got was by the housekeeper, she was very sweet.

Basically, the photos advertised aren’t what the rooms look like. I had to turn the shower on and off to even get hot water to work. My refrigerator also did not work properly, so my food went bad. I’ve yet to receive my deposit back (update because hr found a peace off bud naked to the eye and "anshes" he could only assume I was smoking in the room which I did not. There’s a camera pointed on my room you’ll see me walk out over to the grass area and smoke. Never once did he say it smelt like smoke. I have a video) and there’s not direct way of contacting this hotel. Also, can’t get towels or anything of that sort once room service has been through. Which I missed, but later went to ask for new ones and couldn’t get any so I had to go spend money for a clean towel. The beds feel like prison beds. I’m very disappointed in the false advertisement. Wasn’t what I expected.
