Decent, well-priced Crown Plaza. A really decent hotel not far from New York City, with good access to the motorways, which makes it a convenient base if you want to stay outside the city but still be close enough to visit. The hotel is a little bit dated and you can see the elevators have seen better days. The rooms are also a bit loud, especially the heating and the doors, so light sleepers might notice it. Breakfast was okay but nothing special, not much better than a Holiday Inn, although the selection was a little bigger. Staff were very pleasant and helpful in all areas, which made a big difference. They also ran a good promotion for extra points if you had dinner in the bar, which I regret missing because I had a big lunch that day. There is a small gym as well, nothing special, but enough to keep your cardio up. Overall, I can recommend it, especially given how sensible the price was. If you want to stay near New York without being in New York itself, it is only a few minutes drive to Edison train station, which will take you straight into the city in under an hour. As a Diamond member my room was upgraded, but I did not see much benefit from it, just a slightly bigger room.
When I checked into the hotel, it was already very late, but the front desk staff, Jayden, still worked hard to find a room that I was very satisfied with. He also made every effort to verify my membership level to see if he could offer better privileges. After I entered the room, he didn’t forget to send a message to make sure everything met my expectations and that I was comfortable. He is a very considerate and attentive front desk staff member.I am very happy to give him my compliments, and I’m glad that this hotel has such an excellent employee.
We stayed here at the end of a family trip, it was the best hotel we stayed in by far. The decor was very well thought out, and well executed. The staff did a very good job on check in and check out. The room was very clean, with very nice bathrooms, and tasteful room decorations and amenities. No free breakfast, that was ok for us we wanted to go out anyway.
My name is Giridhara Srinivas. I stayed at this hotel from 12/24 - 12/27. I chose this hotel because it was convenient to all locations. Below are the things I did not like during my stay 1) Room service - your rule is that if I place a door tag, then only room service will be provided. How will the customer know about your rules? Are they posted on your website? Or not. If yes, who will read those rules during booking 2)Breakfast- you are charging the room with breakfast. Please explain how we should think. Are breakfast tokens provided for all guests staying? Or when I booked a room for four guests (3 adults and one kid), I received breakfast tokens for only 2 adults. 3) Room booking- we did not understand why you are charging $45 fee for an additional member. If the room has two queen beds, our understanding is that it will accommodate four people. When I called the front desk lady to check on $45 charge, I did not get a polite answer from her. When I asked her, she replied that her tone was like that over the phone. Based on this, I never recommend this hotel to anyone.
My husband Maurice Mapps and I had a wonderful experience staying here. Alex was so accommodating. We traveled from Utah to New Jersey on a redeye flight. We were so exhausted. He got us checked into a beautiful room. The bed is so comfortable! The pillows are soft and fluffy. I got some much needed rest. The rooms are spacious. I loved the desk and mirror. I was able to sit down and apply my makeup for my husband's Iota Gamma 55th Chapter Anniversary Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc gala. My husband had breakfast at the restaurant. The food is delicious! We had a wonderful experience and would absolutely stay here again.
The hotel was wonderful: bright, comfortable, and exactly what I needed. My room was spotless and surprisingly spacious, especially compared to most hotels, which made it easy to actually relax and settle in.
We booked this hotel with our family so that we could enjoy a Christmas weekend in NYC. Unfortunately, due to sickness in the family, we were unable to make the trip, and had to cancel. We cancelled a day or two in advance as soon as we were made aware of the illness. Cancelling went off without a hitch, however, a refund was flatly denied ("We always deny any third party booking's request for a refund"). I explained that we had the doctor's note, heck, they could see that the rest of the family had to cancel their booking for the same reason. This was all to no avail. I completely understand that cancelling is not ideal, and certainly not something that we planned to do. However, with lead time and a doctor's note, I would expect a hotel with the reputation of Crowne Plaza to understand that this happens, especially as flu cases are at some of the highest levels in recent memory. Edit: We will not stay at your property, we will not encourage others to stay at this property. Although your entry level employee may not be able to override a third party cancellation, a manager would absolutely have to be able to. At a minimum, errant bookings occur that need to be cleared. Per Priceline, all they need is your permission to refund, at which point Priceline would refund my money and any money paid to you would be returned to Priceline. This is pretty cut and dry. After all, there was no issue at all with me cancelling my room, it appears Crown Plaza Edison just likes to have their cake and eat it too. This is horrible customer service and, as I said, not to the standard I would have expected. Thank you for that nice little twist of the knife right before Christmas, it was just a nice little cherry on top.
