Worthington Resort - The Grand Resort & Spa

The place has really gone downhill. The new management doesn’t seem to give a hoot about guest satisfaction. They don’t even answer an email. Even after calling twice about how they didn’t answer it ! They used to have a seven day a week hot breakfast. Now it’s supposed to be three days a week, but two of the three days, they didn’t even have eggs. They just said we’re out. FYI, there’s a grocery store five minutes away. No excuse for this. They used to have a fun happy hour for the guests a couple days a week with free drinks and snacks. Now that’s gone and replaced by a very overpriced bar. They used to have free parking, but now they charge for that. They used to not have a resort fee, but now they have that. The rooms are nothing special. It’s really not a good value at all. Save your money and stay someplace else, and if you want to use the pools, just get a day pass. this place is not remotely worth the $250-$500 a night that they’re trying to get for mediocre rooms and mediocre service.

I've stayed at the Worthington about 15 times since 2013. It was one of my favorite men's clothing optional hotels before 2022. Since the new owners took over in 2022, the prices doubled and occupancy is half of what it was. It used to be a lively place with every room sold out every night during high season, which meant lots of fun socializing at the pools and hot tubs. Now, the place is half empty mid-week during winter high-season, yet the prices are twice what they used to be PLUS resort fee PLUS parking fee. My most recent stay was mid-week in January 2025, and I just can't justify going back to a half-empty hotel with all those fees. There are plenty of other men's clothing optional hotels in Ft Lauderdale/Wilton Manors that don't have fee after fee.

Great check experience. Paul and Heath were very accommodating. Put us in a great room. They are even going to have a small lunch restaurant soon. *****Returned to property recently and I have to reduce my rating to 4 stars. They now charge a $25 resort fee that they never had, no happy hour now, morning breakfast very minimal and now charge $18 for parking. We may look at staying at another guest house next time.

My husband and I booked a week long vacation at the Worthington and was met with very nice staff. Bob B was super pleasant to work with. It was my husband’s first time ever in Ft. Lauderdale and we meet lots of great and nice visitors as well! Only 1 small recommendation would be to update the toilet as it sat low and our seat had 1 hinge broken. Beyond that, was a great time!

I don’t know how this place was run before it was sold, but it’s nothing like advertised. Clothing optional? Technically, yes — but only in two small, confined areas. That’s it. You have to stay dressed until you get to those spots, and if you need to go to your room or the restroom, you have to get dressed again. Not exactly enjoyable and good for people watching/socializing. All-male resort? Not really. When someone who has transitioned from male to female is allowed entry, that means she is a WOMAN. No disrespect intended — good for her for having the courage to live as her true self. But if you’re identifying and presenting as a woman, you shouldn’t be using male-only facilities. You can’t have it both ways. And it didn’t stop there — she was even allowed to bring additional female guests. Needless to say, it was extremely uncomfortable and we left immediately to find other accommodations for the rest of our trip. There are other nearby places that actually live up to what they advertise. Turns out others left as well because wr ran into them at the other place. Management’s solution when we expressed our concerns - well, they said they’d move us to the penthouse suite so that we would have privacy. So we’re supposed to hide out up there and not use the common areas because you lied and opened it to multiple women? They also shut down an entire section for "renovations" without telling anyone in advance. Guests later learned they’d gotten in trouble with the county for men being nude, which led to the new restrictions. At least have the decency to disclose that before people book. The staff were friendly, but even they were openly talking about how much the new ownership has changed things. Apparently, the owners manage Airbnb rentals and thought running a resort would be the same. Spoiler: it’s not!!! The "free continental breakfast" was another disappointment. On the first day, they had eggs and bacon alongside gas station–style muffins. That was the only day they offered eggs and bacon. After that, all we heard was, "We ran out." They also prohibit outside drinks — but don’t even keep the bar open. Really? If you don’t like smoking, you’re out of luck. Guests smoke everywhere — in the pool, in the hot tub, and all around the property. It’s unpleasant and unavoidable. The only positive thing about this place is that it’s within walking distance of the gay beach. Other than that, it’s a total letdown. Do yourself a favor and take a tour before booking — you’ll quickly see why you shouldn’t stay here.

I stayed in room V18 from Saturday March 15 to Wednesday March 19th. Went for vacation. |Likes:|*Room has a full kitchen ( less an oven, but does have a convection oven). This came in handy as it was during spring break and all of the restaurants were packed. |There is a grocery store and liqour stores close by as well, not walking distance. |*The property and rooms were beautifully maintained ( except a little rust on the |refridgerator and a small crack in the table - just my disclaimer) .|* The suanas and pools were plentiful and super nice. |* The staff were outstanding, everyone of them went out of their way to help us. |* Parking on site ( however you have to pay for it ) |* Location: close to beach ( walking close) and Uber is easy to get , very safe and clean area|* The guests that stayed there were also very friendly and welcoming. |* People do cruise|Dislikes:|* I did not like having to pay for parking when we already paid $1700.00 for a | 4 night stay. |* The small cafe served Eggs and Bacon on Saturday, but ran out of food by Sunday| and did not replenish it until Wednesday ( again paid a lot to stay, could have | driven to Publixs and bought food if delivery driver was late 3 days) |* They have a small bar set up, but the prices they charge for a drink are very high| $11.00 , when at The Gaythering in Miami Beach they are $4 and 8$ depending on| happy hour or after. I actually would have bought more drinks at the bar if and| not went to the store to stock my room if they were a little cheaper. |* It is very busy on the weekends and after noon on Sunday it feels very slow throughout the week. Maybe the prices keep people away. |Overall:|The Worthington/Grand is a very nice place, most of the people that stay there are mature, polite, and very open minded. That being said it is appeared to be an older crowd for most of the week, except the weekend was a good mix. The staff could not be matched anywhere, the upkeep was on point, and the city is wonderful, yet busy. |I would like to see prices come down a little bit as I would come more often, but I will return. |Plan on relaxing a lot during the week days as little goes on at the resort.

We've been staying here 3-4 times a year for over 13 years, and this was only our second visit since the sale. The first visit after the sale was extremely disappointing and we did return to Ft Lauderdale since, but stayed at other hotels. We decided to give this place another opportunity and unfortunately, our recent experience was disappointing as well. While the property is still clean, the overall atmosphere has changed significantly. The grounds now feel "too sterile" and lack the warm, inviting, small-business vibe we once loved. In the past, we’d see team members around at all hours, making the place feel more homey and cared for. This time, staff presence was virtually nonexistent, and the place felt abandoned. It was also noticeably less busy — less than half full — whereas every visit before it was always full with guests. Prices have gone up, but given the emptiness and diminished atmosphere, it no longer feels worth it. To our surprise there was now a hot breakfast - but only to find out it is served only on weekends. We also experienced something we never did in the past — loud noise late into the night, with shouting, screaming, and slamming doors until 4:14 am. What’s more, there are no phones in the rooms to contact the front desk, which was inconvenient. While the property was clean, there was a lack of attention to detail — for example, a cup that was left on a ledge for days, possibly longer. And beach towels left lying around for days. Overall, it was disappointing to see how much this place has changed after all these years. We will definitely consider other options moving forward.
