Historic Sion Bass House & Spa

The walls are so thin you can hear everyone else in the house and the cars sound like they are in the room with you. There is no water for coffee or just to drink unless you get it out of the bathroom, not even in the large fridge in kitchen area. The little electric fan doesn't work, light bulbs are missing from lamps. Shower curtain is so short water runs out from below it. For the price I expected attention to some details like this. The bed slept ok but the pillows were cheap and thin and you roll to the middle if there are two of you because the mattress is so worn out.

No mention of how steep and narrow the stairs were. We did not end up staying because my husband couldn’t make it up the stairs. It took two trips for me with baggage because the stairs were so narrow. Tiny parking area so we had to hike in. Add should give the stair situation. Would not be accessible to elderly or anyone with bad knees. $170 down the tubes.

The signage could never not be seen from the street. The parking was in back, entrance in front. The landscaping was weedy. We never saw a caretaker or manager. The water closet was in a separate room from the wash basin. The tub walls were too high to step over. The wash basin had no counter space. The water never got hot, so the shower was cold. Breakfast was a few prepackaged rolls and biscuits and water or coffee to drink. Nothing more hot or cold. We bought breakfast after we left. The furnishings, except for the closet under construction, were Interesting and attractive. I couldn't recommend it if it were free.

It has been a few years since we last stayed. Vast improvement with cleanliness, quality and service! Thank you new owners. We will be back. Great tubs!

A local treasure hidden in plain sight. Read the confirmation email and you're set!

We stayed two nights while researching at the Allen County Library. It is just two blocks away on the same street so it was ideal. The room itself was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable. It had a a large tub and sink in one small room with the toilet in a separate room. There was no door on the tub area but they had a curtain on a shower rod that you could pull closed. This helped a lot as the street light was right outside the house which shined in at night in the window. The curtain pulled helped block the light. There was also a small refrigerator in a closet along with an ironing board and iron. Coffee was found in the main area of the historic house. That being said, since it was a historic house, windows could not be opened and no individual way to regulate the heat in the room. There were others staying there but noise was no issue even in an old home. We found the room to be too warm for our liking. I suppose we could have contacted the owner about that but we were not that uncomfortable to do so. There was a nice electric fireplace in the room which gave it charm. There were also many restaurants within walking distance so we found that helpful. The TV in the room only had antenna and a roku, could not find the instructions and TV channel listings until we were leaving - they were inside a drawer. Checking in was very easy. The price was very reasonable and we would stay there again if we are in the area.
