The Highlander Hotel

Went here for a birthday party actually. The hotel is so gorgeous. The furniture in the common areas was just incredibly chosen. All the detail that went into this hotel is clear. The pool is gorgeous too! They have a hot tub and an arcade with all kinds of vintage arcade games and lots of new ones too! Everyone we interacted with was lovely. The room was beautiful and you can request a suite that opens into the pool area! 100% will have to have a staycation here someday!

I'm not sure why anyone would stay anywhere else in Iowa City/Coralville. Great restaurant, unique cocktail menu with this historic sunken bar and retro arcade. Food is affordable and wonderful with something for everyone. Staff is authentic and fun. Pool is epic as are the tables to hang out and play cards while the kids swim if you get a poolside room. Super clean. Plenty of free parking and right off/on Interstate I-80. Like a little resort where everything is there. Not just a hotel for sleeping but a fun gathering spot for groups with lots to do. Perfect for babies to 80s to gather and be together! Loved it for our family but will bring work retreat here in the future too. Can't wait to come back.

We recently stayed a few nights at Highlander and were very impressed with the service and vibe of the hotel. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Loved the way the hotel is designed and decorated. The hot tub was a welcome respite at the end of the day. Great record collection, we put some albums on the small turntable and enjoyed a glass of wine while listening to some oldies. We were very comfortable with a courtyard room, it was convenient to let out my service dog in the morning. We will be back!

Always a great get way to support a Family owned and operated Business! The Hotel itself is unique and many ways, rooms are clean and spacious! The Pool area is phenomenal-well kept (can be slippery) nice chairs to relax in, play some ping pong and a full wall viewing the outside, bonus a working hot tub! The restaurant (Lucy's) is 100% spot on, the unique bar and retro arcade is fun for all ages! Milkshake anyone? Trust me they're worth the $ the selection of games, record players available to all the guests is a fun way to retro you're kids minds...bonus pets are allowed for a small fee! We live 25 minutes away, and it is a perfect way to unwind and spend family time locally or whether you're traveling to Iowa City, Cedar Rapids area.I highly suggest this hotel!

Positive: Staff was good and the breakfast was as well, incredibly comfortable bed quiet hotel even though it’s right next to the interstate! The GM was very active on the property! Negative: There was nothing I didn’t like about this day

Visited a friend who got a poolside room here for their birthday. The pool area was really neat with lots of space to lounge around, a hot tub, and a ping-pong table. The arcade was larger than I expected, and super fun for both kids and adults. The next time I'm looking for a mini getaway, this place is definitely a top contender.

Kimberly at the front desk was incredible. My family and I had been involved in a car accident during a snow storm on I-80 (thankfully my truck was drivable) and decided to find a hotel and drive home the next day. Kimberly kindly checked us in 4 hours before the official check in time and showed amazing kindness and was thankful we were safe. Also, the pool area was very phenomenal. The supper club was delicious. And the arcade was a lot of fun! 10/10 recommend
