The room was very nice and spacious. The bed & pillows were awesome. Best sleep ever in a long time. The only downfall was the water pressure in the shower which was horrible. The customer service at the front desk was excellent. As for the restaurant, Los Cielos, we only ate there once. The service was extremely slow with only a handful of people there. The food was okay. We'd give it a 4 out of 10 stars.

We stayed at A Lodge on the Desert for just over 2 months and it had most everything we needed to feel like home while our newly purchased home was being remodeled. Most everything we own was in storage so we needed some place to stay that had a kitchen and laundry facilities. A Lodge in the Desert fit the bill very nicely for us. LaVerne was very helpful whenever we had a question and we had some nice chats. -- I will always remember the night my husband and I sat out on the upper east facing patio, overlooking the city and the beautiful Organ Mountains, eating dinner with the sun setting behind us and then the moon rising over the Organ Mountains with the city lights sparkling below. What a sight!

Hubby and I stayed here on our way to Albuquerque from Tucson which is about halfway. We stayed the first two nights in the Executive Suite and loved it. Beautiful room and incredible sunken tiled shower in the large bathroom with a kitchenette with a full size fridge. On our way back to Tucson a week later we stayed two nights in the Kokopelli Suite which was absolutely gorgeous...jetted tub and separate shower in the very large tiled bathroom complete with closets and this room has a full kitchen. It has a private patio overlooking Las Cruces. There is also a common living area with a small kitchenette with continental breakfast items, a nice dining table, leather couches and a huge library upstairs with a patio off the library. Highly recommend this beautiful and comfortable lodge.

This is a pleasant and inexpensive place to stay when visiting Las Cruces (or Mesilla) for a few days, a week, a month or longer. Each room is unique and beautifully decorated, and there is a spectacular view of the mountains from a shared balcony that is easily reached from all the rooms. It's an informal operation. They only accept checks or PayPal, there is no daily maid service and there may be not one around when you arrive. You ignore the dogs--they make a lot of noise, but they're very sweet when you meet them in person--and find your room with the key left for you on the table. That's it. You come and go as you please or just sit and look at the mountains.

The owner LaVerne Tromble is a builder and has owned the property for 40 years, and has a photo album of the construction, renovation and add-ons that make this lodge a delightful getaway. Very reasonably priced if you can get it! LaVerne has a regular roster of visitors who return each year for the ambiance.||A wonderful patio, a Garden Room with books and DVDs for lending, a refrigerator with wine and beer for a buck, and toast, frozen waffles and coffee for the morning. The room I stayed in had its own kitchenette and I believe most of the rooms do as well. Each room is uniquely decorated with tile, photos and pictures.A great party facility that would be good for special occasions like an informal birthday or even a wedding celebration. Firepits available for use.||LaVerne||About 5 miles from downtown Las Cruces, off I-10. No trouble to find with GPS.

Making the reservation was the best part of the stay. The gentleman I spoke to was friendly & understood we were bringing 2 children. When we arrived his wife was unaware & proceeded to treat us life vermon. She even slammed the door on us after she saw the kids. The room is dusty and obviously not cleaned before our stay. If that wasn't bad enough, the event we were there for had several vendors who had to drop off items. One of them was attacked by the owners dog. The dog was not on a leash and the owner didnt do anything to stop the attack & actually stood there & watched. The worst of it is that there was no air conditioner with 100+ degree days & 90 degree night time temperatures. A little tip on hosting a party- you need to throw all of trash off property.

What a comfortable lodge! So quite and beautiful , LaVerne treats my wife and I like family. This lodge has so many antique furnishings that I could spend hours enjoying the decor! The views are stunning! We love it here and hope to return soon!
