Memphis Riverline Hotel

I stayed at this hotel in July for 4 nights while in town on business. Hotel is well positioned in downtown area close to bars, restaurants and conference facilities. On arrival you notice the interior of the hotel is furnished in dark wood & muted colours which creates a sense of the hotel being dated. The staff were very friendly and I was promptly provided with an overview of the hotel and allocated my room (1217). The room was nice, very spacious and like the rest of the hotel, lots of dark wood creating that dated furnishing concept, room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. This is a huge hotel with lots of conference, social and recreation facilities. There is a restaurant/bar which sells limited breakfast items most of which are pre prepared, and some food in the evening. Bar/food area closes post breakfast and then reopens around 17.00 and closes again at 21.30/22.00 which is very unusual for a hotel bar. Outwith these times I was unable to order coffee or food so the service is very limited and something that could be considered as an opportunity. Overall the hotel is slightly dated however my room was great.

Positive: "" Negative: Bugs poured out of the faucet when we turned on the water. They sent someone up but we couldn’t shower for hours after he cleaned it because the smell was so strong.

Completely Unacceptable – Serious Cleanliness Issues My stay at the Sheraton Downtown this past weekend was extremely disappointing. I was initially assigned Room 1231, where I found ants in both the bathroom and the bed. I was moved to another room, which appeared acceptable at first. However, after returning from my event later that night, I discovered ants in the shower and crawling all over the dresser in the second room as well. To be clear, there was no food in my room at any time, so this was not a guest-related issue. What made the situation worse was the staff’s reaction—they seemed largely unfazed, showing little urgency or concern despite the seriousness of the problem. After encountering the same issue in two different rooms, I completely lost confidence in the hotel’s ability to provide a clean and sanitary environment. I ultimately checked out and left the hotel at approximately 3:40 a.m. because I did not feel safe or comfortable staying there. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, especially at this price point and brand level. Unfortunately, this property failed to meet even minimal standards. I would not recommend staying here. Corporate has yet to respond to my claim.

I am absolutely disgusted with the way the Sheraton handles its guests. Not only was the stay mediocre at best, but now they’re trying to scam me out of $250 for a "smoking fee" and I DO NOT smoke. And I didn’t even have anyone in the room who smokes. The only smoke getting blown right now is from Sheraton going right up my rear. At this point, I’m convinced the "evidence" was just someone walking into the room, sniffing dramatically, and deciding my wallet looked flammable. When I contacted them about it, I got vague responses and zero real explanation just "it was reported." Reported by who? Based on what? Where’s the evidence? Be very careful staying here. Check your credit card statements closely. Apparently, they have no problem charging you for things you didn’t do. I will never stay here again. Absolute clown hotel with room keys. 🎪

Very disappointing experience at the Sheraton Memphis Downtown. After nearly 15 hours of travel with my kids and two dogs, we were denied check in due to an Explore Rate verification issue despite the authorization being submitted electronically. The front desk associate was rigid unapologetic and showed no hospitality or empathy. We were told to wait in the lobby with our luggage and children for nearly an hour while we resolved the issue ourselves. Once in the room the issues continued. The property especially the rooms feels run down and outdated. The pipes make loud rattling noises when using hot water in the shower and when we tried calling the front desk for assistance no one answered. Overall the lack of customer service responsiveness and upkeep made this a frustrating stay and not the level of experience I expect from a Marriott property.

The person checking me in didn't listen when I asked questions, continued to talk over me when I talked. Room was old and dirty, the restaurant has a very limited menu and is extremely overpriced. Very disappointed in this stay.

Had a terrible experience. Location is a major drawback, several druggies roaming around like zombies just across the street. Parking fee is outrageous at $36 per night! The pillows were so uncomfortable, I woke up with a headache. The hotel itself looks like it's seen better days and feels run down. At check out I was told the receipt will be sent to my email. Never got it. Definitely not worth the $150+ price tag for a night's stay. Would not recommend.
