We had a good stay. The staff was great and very helpful. The room was very clean, and room service came every day to tidy up. They change sheets every 3 nights and I would prefer every 2 nights. Very minimalist decor. We had an upgraded premium room which felt like a standard size hotel room but it worked for us. TV was great with lots of TV apps and good selection of station. Free trickle charging available at parking garage was nice!
Shashi Hotel is located in Mountain View, also known as Silicon Valley, and truly provided a haven from the stressors of my day. I was introduced to this hotel through the Amex Platinum benefit and I am 100 percent glad I stayed here. It felt like a smart use of the benefit and an experience that exceeded my expectations from the moment I arrived. The location is unbeatable, with plenty of free street parking as well as a complimentary garage, which made everything easy and convenient. The hotel feels new and sleek and gives off a vibe that reminds you work should be secondary to enjoying life. Check-in was smooth and welcoming. The rooms were fantastic and included all the features you would expect from a top-tier hotel. I especially loved the scent of the shampoo and soap, which felt elevated and memorable. The hot tub was a real treat and perfectly hot, beautifully complementing the pool area. The gym was also elite-level, with a variety of weights and machines that would honestly make Equinox jealous. This hotel is a balance between comfort, style, and thoughtful amenities, and I would absolutely make this my go-to stay whenever I am back in the area.
Positive: The staff . I had an incident with a drunk guest. She handled it very well. She was awesome. The sauna was nice. Atmosphere was nice. Parking in a garage was nice. Robe was nice. But not big enough for anyone over American 1x. Negative: The drunk inconsiderate guest. The fact that the fridge had no small freeze for my cold pack. I needed my cold pack for medication. A small freezer was needed. The sliding bathroom doors were very nice, but a bit heavy with only a finger hole to open it.
Is Shashi a five-star hotel? In my opinion? No. Is it close to the Google campus? Yes. That is the only reason I would ever consider staying here again. The rooms are consistently so poorly maintained and cleaned that I would never stay here if the location wasn't where it was. I've stayed here multiple times and these same issues were present the other times I visited. Those issues including • Dirty rooms with visible dust, mold, water stains, scuffs, and just general wear. • An odd smell to the guest rooms. Both times I have stayed both rooms had the same smell. I can only describe it as smelling like cooking oil as if somebody was recently frying food in the rooms. The hallways do not smell like this but the guest rooms do. • Smart lights that are too smart for their own good. Whenever I have the lights turned on in the room they will randomly flicker continuously until I turn them off. • Paper thin walls and zero noise insulation. You can hear conversations, the TV, and whatever else (use your imagination) is going on in the room next to you. I just wanted to share my experience because I have stayed at other nearby hotels with similar rates with much more well-kept guest rooms. If that's what is important to you, avoid Shashi.
We had a wonderful experience staying at Shashi. The front desk staff greeted us in a friendly manner. He offered us complimentary drinks as well which was quiet welcoming. The room was cleaned, neat, and modern. The smell in the room as well as in the hallway was fresh and not overwhelming. The amendities such as the spa room were excellent. The coffee maker in the room is cleaned and the quality of the coffee was quiet good! Additionally, we drove an electric car and the charging there was complimentary so we didn’t even have to worry about running out of charge. Overall, we felt very well taken care of while staying at Shashi and 100% would return again. We even recommend this place to our family members.
Shashi Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in the Mountain View / Palo Alto area. The hotel feels modern, stylish, and very well thought out, with great attention to detail throughout the property. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day. The overall atmosphere is calm and upscale without feeling pretentious. The staff was professional, friendly, and helpful whenever needed, which really elevated the experience. The location is also a big plus — convenient, quiet, and close to major tech hubs while still feeling peaceful. Overall, Shashi Hotel offers a high-quality stay with comfort, design, and service all coming together nicely. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
As a 5 star hotel, it’s disappointing. It is closer to a 3 star, hence the rating (expected vs actual, so seems fair). - walls and doors are very thin, it’s loud and you can hear people even walking down the halls - the housekeepers are LOUD. Beyond yelling to each other from down the hall, seems like they were purposely dropping things and throwing things around. - they did not give us more toilet paper when they refreshed the room, we ran out and had to ask the front desk for more. Only having one thin roll in a room seems silly. - keeping with housekeeping, they tossed the blanket, my phone charger, and my contact solution bottle (????) on the floor when they "cleaned". Yeah, the counters were clean, but why did you throw everything on the floor….. - restaurant food options are limited and expensive in an attempt to be "luxury" but there weren’t any good options. - no breakfast included and the cafe they have is not good, better off going somewhere else, especially for the price. - no coffee in the room either. So the cafe sucks (check out the reviews over there to see) and you can’t make fresh coffee in your room either. They gave you instant coffee packs. Yum… - pool is NOT heated. It’s freezing. Multiple other people came down to swim and didn’t actually get past their ankles because it was so cold. We all just sat in the hot tub instead. - the lights in our room constantly flashed when turned on. As in, if we turned the ceiling lights on, they would randomly turn off and back on. Constantly. It was so annoying, we used the bedside reading lights most of the time with all other lights off. Electrical problems maybe? Scary.
