Northern Lights Mansion

I wish I'd read these reviews before booking. They are scamming people. ||I booked a room for Feb. 2026 but had to cancel. I cancelled WAY in advance — in Sept. 2025! — and was expecting a refund within 7 days, per the terms of the booking.||They have held $565.22 of my money for over 20 days now and won’t reply to my inquiries. I have contacted them through every available means, and they have completely ghosted me.||I now see I’m not the first to be scammed. Do not give this business your credit card number!||I will change this review if I get my money back.

I booked this through booking.com with a free cancellation option. They took the full amount straight away without informing me. When I cancelled soon after well within the cancellation period (by months!) they didn’t return my money, my calls or my messages. Booking.com came through and returned the money. If there’s any chance you might want to cancel steer clear of this place. They will rip you off.

We stayed for a weekend and we really enjoyed our experience! The staff is extremely nice, always ready to help. The room was beautiful and clean. The kitchen was great. Really perfect for our needs. The subway stations were close by. I would re-book here for sure. Thank you:)

I haven’t stayed here personally, so I can’t speak to the rooms or location - but the service was excellent. Shakir Philippe’s customer service was top-notch. A loved one of mine stayed here and had an important meeting to present at. With all the travel the day before and the jet lag, I was worried they might miss it. Their phone was off, so I called the property manager, Shakir, who went out of his way to make sure they were awake and ready to go. Super grateful!

We booked via booking.com and Northern Lights immediately debited our credit card. We had to cancel well within the cancellation time and have been trying to get the money refunded for over 5 weeks now. They are being deliberately "vague" and "keep referring the matter to the manager". My advice is avoid the "Northern Lights Mansion" in New York.

We came here to experience NYC for the Christmas season, and this was an excellent spot. I loved that it wasn't in the hustle and bustle of downtown, but if we wanted to do that, we only needed to hop onto a nearby subway. We arrived early in the day, and Ron was so gracious to meet us early and get us settled in. We were able to store our luggage before officially checking in, which was awesome! Very cozy community sitting area and the most lovely kitchen with coffee, tea, toast and cereal 😋 The room was cute and had a beautiful corner window that overlooked the street. Shower and bathroom had all that we needed. My only complaint was that it might be time to get a new mattress on one of the single beds as it had a permanent divet in the center and the pull out 3rd bed was hard as a rock. I say this only for feedback, not to speak badly about our stay. Overall, I would stay here again. The owner and Ron were both extremely welcoming from the time I booked the room. If you are looking for a place of refuge after busy days running around the city, this would be a wonderful option!

Shakir Philippe made us feel like family ! It was a very unique experience. It almost felt like having that cool best friend that knows everything that’s always a phone call away.The genuine concern and care that I received there was above and beyond what I expected. It’s definitely not a stay. It’s an experience. Don’t get me started on all the different foods and culture that I was surrounded by. It was beautiful.
