THE LODGE at Kiln Creek

Smaller than I thought. Nice cozy rooms with a nice view of the golf course. Nice decor finishing touches. I would be mindful that there are no elevators for the second floor. Did not know that booking so my friend had to carry her luggage. If that's an issue request ask for a first floor room. Checking in I was neutral about service. Small details that I noticed but most wouldn't care. Water pressure is soft & the water doesn't get very hot. I usually care for more pressure & a really hot shower. I do like that the restaurant is connected to where the rooms were. It does close early at nine (this was a Tuesday night). Also they use a lot of office white lighting which for me isn't my favorite but most wouldn't care. It's common with a lot of hotels these days. The entrance & the bathroom timer has warm lighting which I appreciated & to me elevates the experience.

Lovely, quiet accommodations! Stayed several nights and loved it! The room was comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. All staff were friendly and made me feel welcome. The on-site restaurant is not to be missed too. Sat on patio near golf course and enjoyed a cocktail one evening. They also have hearty breakfast offerings. Overall, my stay at The Lodge exceeded expectations in every way.

Overall, we were pleased with our stay at this property. The gentleman who checked us in (Jordan) was very friendly, cordial, polite and professional. His employer is lucky to have him working there. The rooms were nicely appointed, but there was some visible wear and tear on the bed frames, and other furniture in the room. This is a small lodge, but is a nice alternative to all the local hotels in the Hampton area. It's located adjacent to their golf course, and has a private and upscale vibe. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but parking is free and plentiful, and it is in a nice and safe area. We would likely stay here again.

Great wedding venue. Had family from out of town. Very happy with the accommodations and service. Golf, tennis, pool and restaurant. Many restaurants nearby.

We recently stayed at The Lodge while in Newport News to celebrate my cousin's birthday (who lives within walking distance of the Lodge.) What a delightful place! Our room was very spacious and the little extra touches really impressed us. Super comfy bed! A high-top table with china and silverware (in a cloth napkin and lovely napkin ring). A mini fridge with a real freezer on top. Very large tv - which I liked a lot. Bath amenities that were far superior to what is found in other hotels. Sliding doors to an outdoor space overlooking the putting green was also a nice touch. The pool - which we didn't use - looked nicely appointed and very well received by other guests. There is a beautiful ballroom for social events and other meeting rooms as well. The restaurant provides meals that you can enjoy in the restaurant or in your room. The Beef Sliders are Excellent! Every staff member we met was quite helpful and friendly. While very small in number of rooms - the Lodge is a wonderful option for a Newport News visit.

There for a banquet. Food was plentiful but nothing worth of note. Typical buffet food.

***This review is for Whitley and Whitley only*** The resort grounds are beautiful…the little bit I saw at least because my reservation was canceled in their system due to unexpected room damages, but still active on my end…so I was room-less, hours from home, 0% ready for my best friend’s wedding rehearsal dinner that started in less than an hour at that point in time. I could feel the stress and panic tears starting to build, until the sweet, sweet girl at the front desk took initiative and started problem solving. Whitley was absolutely precious, empathetic, and so helpful. She stayed calm and kind to me and everyone I heard her speak with, even though the situation was stressful and unexpected. As someone who works in customer service myself, I could tell she was a little nervous that I may get upset as the situation was potentially very problematic and definitely stressful, but literally zero fault of her’s or anyone’s directly, things happen. After what I can assume were many phone calls, she was able to get me booked into a very nice sister property and even got my trip comped. This whole situation could’ve gone completely differently had Whitley not gone above and beyond, all while staying professional and empathetic. I guarantee yall don’t pay her enough, but you need to.
