The Starlight Motor Inn

Our stay was pleasant enough! I did a lot of research before booking this hotel so I was aware of the location and vibes of the hotel. The room was clean, the beds are extremely comfortable, and never had parking issues or anything wrong with our stay. Some fixtures in the room need to be adjusted/tightened. Things to be aware of more before booking- there’s not really a truly "quiet" area here. We did indicate wanting a quiet room (and they have noise machines, which is great) and our friends did not- we each stayed in separate buildings. The bar sound and pool sounds travels a lot since people hang out very late- which is fine I had earplugs. If you stay on the side with the pool room/bar, you can hear everything going on below. But sounds that can’t be avoided at this location- lots of sirens (police, ambulance, etc), train tracks nearby with trains in the night. And it would get a 0% on walkability to anything since there are some cafes and coffee shops close but the streets are wide, busy, and no cross walks. Liked our stay enough and happy to support this business- but probably wouldn’t stay again on a weekend.

Sort of a staycation. The hotel was perfect. I went with friends to Wits End right across the street to see some great stand up comedy. I was able to meet my friend at my room and go for cocktail in there super vibey boulevard bar upstairs and on site. Had a great time at the show and my pal and another couple came back to the room and I played a little acoustic guitar. Everyone had a blast. The hotel has such a cool decor and atmosphere. Will be back for the music nights in the bar on site.

What a gem! This is a midcentury renewed motel in the middle of nowhere in charleston. First the lobby, lounge and pool all feel like 50’s era. But the rooms are modern with lota of great amenities. AC worked great. Beds are comfortable. Clean. Neat. Definitely a value for the price. Probably the only thing is that for airport travelers depending on Uber is not close to anything. Airport is like 15-20 min ride ($18-22), any shopping is far from it. No restaurants at walking distance either. Still I would stay again at this great place.

Overall, we had a great stay. As most of the reviews mentioned, the area is a little sketchy but we never felt unsafe or worried even driving to and from the hotel at night. There were always a bunch of people around. Rooms are super cute and comfy. They did a great job with renovations. We'd stay here again!

Absolutely loved my time at Starlight! Got an early start to our stay due to another airport-hotel issue, and it was such a pleasure! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the rooms are very clean and cutie, and the live music and events were totally unexpected and absolutely amazing. Highly recommend, this was my favorite part of Charleston!

First time visiting Charleston to see friends, and man, what a find! I booked this on Expedia and it didn't disappoint! Usually online check in procedures can be glitchy, but the staff at the Starlight made it very simple. The rooms have a nifty retrofuturistic vibe to them, and the beds....one of the more comfortable hotel beds I've ever had... slept like a log! The hotel itself was fairly close to a lot of the things I wanted to see and do while I was in town so that was a plus. There's a lounge on the property and at times noticed a bit of late night activity when I was settling down for bed, but nothing really that kept me awake as the bed was just that nice! Definitely will consider staying here again when next I come into town!

i loved this place, rooms are great. renovated recently and clean. nice design, good beds, i found the communication with the "office" a bit awkward and "text only" but they were fairly quick to respond and i got over it. but it came to life when i discovered the retro 60's bar on the second floor next to office. megan and team have made it a fun vibe. a band one night. karaoke another. hotel patrons and locals. the neighborhood is not for everyone. definitely in transition, but i was in town for a wedding and i wanted to save some big bucks. i got a lyft into central Charleston when i wanted to . . . also beautiful retro pool . . . i did not check temperature (it was February) . . .even when the bar was popping it was not noisy in the rooms . . . at least my room.
