The Harlow Hotel is a historic hotel renovated in 2019. We stayed in a Signature Double Twin Courtyard Room. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, modern, with a large, well-stocked shower. The room's heating/cooling unit was quiet and easily controlled with an available thermostat, keeping the room warm once we got it heated up to temp. Two robes were provided to wear. The beds were comfortable, and the carpet was clean. The only drawbacks to our stay were 1) the only seating in our rectangular room was a small upholstered bedside bench, 2) the positioning of the beds facing each other with the TV on a side wall allowed viewing only from one bed after pulling the TV out to face one of the beds, and 3) there are homeless in the area, but we always felt safe.

The only reason I don't give 1 star is that I didn't see any bugs. That's right: even cockroaches don't want to stay at Harlow Hotel. Most places will offer cheap or even complimentary breakfast. This place charges $3 for a half filled paper cup of tea. The nights are made more exciting by the professional wrestling matches taking place immediately outside the single paned windows thanks to Portland's massive homeless population. Even better, the homeless people have a large dog who likes to talk all night long. The bed was nice and the bathroom was okay. The room is a little small with no closet. There's no god damned parking, though, so if you add the price of public parking to the cost of the hotel then you may as well stay somewhere better. Also, they overcharged by more than $30 and aren't responding to my email asking why.

The hotel isn't in the best neighborhood. They have to buzz you into the lobby. Even one of the Lift drivers commented about neighborhood being overrun with homeless. The room seemed as cold as a refrigerator, 62°. Which in an odd way was helpful. Because, there was no refrigerator in the room. It took 5 hours to get the room temp up to 70°. Even after checking with the desk there was nothing to be done to make the room warmer. As a matter of fact. There were none of the typical room staples one would expect, coffee, tea, microwave, Etc. The windows in the room were filthy. However, the room and all public areas of the hotel were very clean. The staff was courteous. The Cafe was nothing but an underwhelming Bagel/Coffee shop. Then for an odd reason the after-tax rack rate finalized at a slightly higher price than the reservation price. No one was able to explain this or willing to adjust the price. Next time we stay in Portland. we will hopefully find a more agreeable $200 room, in a better location.

I cannot express enough how delighted we were to have stumbled upon this gem of a boutique hotel! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! Walking distance to Nobb Hill shopping district which is full of eateries, shops and vintage stores. But let’s talk about the experience here. This woman run hotel exudes a welcome, friendly and fun charm. Nothing is overlooked. Clean common areas with rooms that are perfectly sized. They have an amazing cafe with comfy seating and an art gallery full of pieces from local artists. The cafe is open 24 hours and serves Umbria coffee, soft drinks, small bites (bagels, desserts) as well as cocktails (no cocktails served after 2am ish). Friday nights boast an open mic in the cafe/lounge area featuring local talent with comedy, song, dance, poetry. Etc. additionally there are ghost tours from outside vendors which begin here at the hotel. Our hosts were Noembi, Carol and Misty. These women are super hostesses! Extremely knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and surrounding neighborhoods. Greeting their guest like old friends seems to come naturally for all of them and they are fun and never without a genuine smile. I’ve never stayed at a hotel where I wanted to show my appreciation for the staff with more than tips, but while shopping in nearby Camas, WA, we came across some beautiful Dahlia arrangements and just had to gift one to these amazing ladies. Don’t miss an opportunity to stay at The Harlow Hotel where you are surrounded by comfort and friendships!

We really enjoyed our stay! Close to a lot of things. Just like anywhere, watch your surroundings. We were in and out the city and we really didn’t have much of a worry. First time in Portland and our experience was pleasant. I would book again!

Very clean and quaint, modern hotel. Wasn't in my ideal location which is Pearl District but not the nicest part of Pearl but it worked. Rooms are clean, view not the best (a rooftop) and staff was great. Loved the coffee shop next to the lobby. Finding parking on the street isn't ideal but the lot was fine. I saw another review where the car got broken in to. Never leave things in your car to give someone a reason to break in. That's for every city.

We stayed at this hotel bcz of they have twin beds and nice location close to the train station. Despite there are many homelss people around, we had a good time. Gagan is super friendly and he showed us a gym room which was very clean and cozy. We will come back again!
