Positive: This hotel was exceptional in beauty, cleanliness, amenities, and staff friendliness. Our room on the sixth floor was the most impressive hotel room I’ve ever had, with 15 foot ceiling, sand, huge window windows, giving a panoramic view of the city. Negative: No
One of a kind hotel experience. Loved the beautiful atmosphere and artwork. The beds were very comfortable, room was very clean, staff was kind and helpful. The only issue (not really that big of deal) I had was that the shower took about a solid 10-15 minutes to get to room temp hot, again not a big deal. Still worth the trip to a lovely historic hotel. That I would re visit. 5 stars!
My husband booked me a suite at Quirk as a Christmas present to get a solo staycation as a working mom of two. He booked the suite so that I could have a bath (as pictured on the website) and the total cost was nearly $700. When I arrived and checked in, there was no bath. I attempted to call to the front desk but the phone did not work. I was meeting friends for their happy hour shortly after check in and decided to move on and enjoy my night. I took a shower but quickly discovered there was NO hot water (now reading additional reviews I see this is not a new problem and remains inexplicably unfixed). The one main blanket is thin, the sheets are scratchy along with the towels. I had to ask the front desk for an additional blanket which they did provide politely. In the middle of the night the toilet wouldn’t flush. It later did after the tank refilled and I held down the flusher.. just doesn’t seem like something that should be of concern at the star rating and price point. When I checked out after barely sleeping I was told I would get a partial refund. A week later after a follow up call I received $100 credit - after spending $700 that didn’t even cover the fees. I will not be recommending this hotel nor will I stay there again for future vacations.
We had a lovely stay at Quirk for our microwedding, though the lead-up was difficult. Their website didn't work when I tried to book, and then it took several days to get a response from the sales team. Once we arrived, the staff didn’t all have the same information about our rooms or parking questions. That said, the actual service was great. I loved being able to text for things like fresh glasses or cake refrigeration. They accommodated our photos and offered to help whenever they could. We also loved the fun art in our rooms! Overall we had a really wonderful, memorable experience.
After reading some recent reviews that weren't so great, I was a little hesitant about booking at Quirk. However the hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was very large, modern and clean, and I loved the huge windows. Charming decor and whimsical design. For the price, would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Richmond.
I booked a one night stay at the Quirk Hotel through booking.com. After taxes and fees, I paid $300 up front. Based on the pictures, I expected at least a somewhat luxury experience, especially with that price. Even though I included my dog in the initial reservation, I was still hit with an additional $75 pet fee upon check-in. We can chalk that up to booking through a 3rd party entity. However, I was also forced to pay a $30 valet fee. They do not have a garage nor a lot. Thus, this was the only option. So at this point that’s just over $400 for one night. The room felt like being a drafty studio apartment in an old mill building for which someone is paying entirely too much in a recently gentrified neighborhood. The bedding, and I’m not exaggerating, was similar to that of a hospital’s bed. The bathroom was nice, and there was a robe in the armoire. Those were the features of the room I enjoyed. I will include pictures of the room so you can see for yourself. The restaurant closes early (9pm) and the lobby and cafe seem to be a local spot for people to work and hang out. All things considered, too expensive for what it is. I don’t consider a gallery and the quirky cupcake aesthetic to be amenities. See photos attached
My husband and I had our wedding at the quirk hotel and it was the best decision we ever made. It was just perfect! We worked with Jasmine and she went above and beyond for us. She kept in contact with us through the whole 8 month process. Day of wedding she made it special by being calm and attentive to us. When we ran into a small hiccup she provided solutions for me. Throughout the event she made sure things ran smoothly by being there to move tables and chairs around for room transitions. The rest of the staff was also wonderful! Treated us and our guest very well and always checked on bride and groom. If you need a venue for your wedding, the quirk is the perfect spot. You will love Jasmine, the staff and the food!
