Northey Street House Bed and Breakfast

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Northey Street House Bed and Breakfast in Salem, MA. From the moment we arrived, Flora, the owner and host, made us feel completely at home. She is warm, welcoming, and truly goes above and beyond to make every guest’s experience special. We stayed in The Loft, which was cozy, spotless, and filled with charming details that made it feel both historic and comfortable. It was the perfect retreat after exploring Salem. But the real highlight of our stay was Flora’s homemade breakfasts. Every morning we were treated to fresh, beautifully prepared meals complete with Flora’s own breads and her incredible homemade preserves and jams. You can truly taste the love and care she puts into each dish, and breakfast quickly became something we looked forward to every day. If you’re visiting Salem and want a place that blends comfort, history, and true hospitality, Northey Street House is a gem. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Northey House. It is located in a great, fairly quiet location but walkable to all of the Salem tourist attractions. The rooms are clean, beautifully appointed with period New England furniture and decor. It was like taking a step back in time, but a comfortable one. Flora, the owner, is gracious and kind. She is available to provide information, help and conversation, but is not intrusive. Her breakfast frittata was incredibly delicious and a great start to a busy day. She is knowledgeable about the history of Salem and was able to make recommendations that were spot on. We will return to the Northey House on our next trip to Salem.

This was truly one of the best places we've ever stayed. Flora is an amazing host—she prepared breakfast for us every day, offered helpful tips and ideas for things to do, and even shared some of her own experiences with us. The room was spacious and cozy, with a lovely patio outside. Its proximity to downtown was very convenient, allowing us to walk everywhere and save on Uber rides. The classic, vintage décor added a special charm to our stay.||The only small note we’d make is that there wasn’t a mini fridge in the room, which would have been a nice addition.

Northey Street House was an excellent place to stay in Salem! Flora was a lovely host and makes an excellent breakfast! We stayed in the Captain’s Quarters and it was cozy and well adorned. The location was fantastic, being a short walk to the Commons and the train station, among the other hotspots in Salem. We can’t wait to come back for another stay!

The experience my wife and I had is definitely one for the books. We could not be more at home at the Northey street house. The room was very clean and comfortable and the host Flora is amazing. We stayed for the week to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and did not want to leave. The breakfast was amazing and the historical house is beautifully preserved. Very close to the festivities. Please if you’re visiting Salem you must stay at the Northey house. Thank Flora for the amazing memories!

Northey House was a fantastic experience! Nestled right in the heart of Salem, it’s within walking distance of so many historic attractions. The renowned location is clean and quaint. We loved the made from scratch breakfast provided to us by Ms. Flora. If you’re looking for a unique place to stay, this is it. My husband and I can’t wait to return.

The Appleton room at Northey Street House was wonderful. Comfortable, quiet, and a great distance from Essex Street/downtown Salem; we didn’t uber once! Breakfast was well-balanced, with different proteins, carbs, and fruit, along with drink options like coffee, teas, and juices. Flora was wonderful and her service was quick if you ever needed something. The whole neighborhood is beautiful and peaceful and the house is very well maintained. I would definitely recommend the Northey Street House!
