Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

My stay at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter was great overall. The location is excellent—right in the heart of the Gaslamp District and walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars, and attractions. The hotel feels modern, the rooms are comfortable, and the service was friendly and welcoming. The only thing that didn’t make much sense was the $70 valet parking fee. When you think about it, the math is pretty surprising. A king bedroom is around $290 for about 370 sq ft, which comes out to roughly $0.78 per square foot. Meanwhile, the valet parking space for my car is about 162 sq ft, meaning the $70 parking costs about $0.43 per square foot. And I’m not blaming this hotel for it, because it seems like that’s the new normal for most big city hotels such as L.A, San Francisco etc. Still a great hotel and location—but the parking price definitely makes you stop and think. 🚗💸

Positive: Location Negative: They charge unexpected additional fees and taxes not mentioned in total price. We stayed there for 5 days and the room was only cleaned once on the last night. They have a silly "credit" of $15/night where you can buy anything in an overpriced tiny store.

Stay was amazing! All the staff was great. Dealt with Rene at the front desk a few times and he was always kind and helpful. Valet was quick and easy to work with. Would recommend staying here!

Been staying here for several years for TwitchCon weekend and it’s been literally perfect. Extremely clean place, the pool area is immaculate and the rooms are beautiful and usually have an amazing view. Requested a specific view this time around and they honored it. Also they have a texting system where if you need for example extra towels or utensils, they will send someone right up for any requests but through texting. Will continue to stay here from here on out. Also $25 for early check in……EXTREMELY WORTH IT!

I stayed here for a week throughout a work conference. It was in a perfect location across from the convention center, and the front desk was friendly. The room was a decent size and reasonably comfortable. The one thing that could have been better was housekeeping. One day I left early and they still hadn’t cleaned when I came back at 2:00 PM for a meeting, so they didn’t service my room at all that day. The next day I had a meeting in the morning and apparently missed my chance again, because when I came back at 5:00 PM they hadn’t cleaned the room. But this wasn’t a big deal—they might have serviced the room if I called them about it.

I wanted to buy a few things at the convenience store by the front desk and when buying in cash the two young women seemed put out that I wanted to pay in cash. They took over 5 minutes to price the four items I had in my hand, had to switch to another computer, kept reminding me I could charge it to my room and made sure I wouldn’t want change back. Outside of the front desk acting funny about handling cash I had a great stay.

Great location between the Gaslamp district and the convention center. And the waterfront is just past that. This time I stayed in one of the loft rooms which was spacious and nicely decorated. Enjoyed their breakfast downstairs, tasty and healthy options. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
