Great hotel! So authentic and charming. Skittles the cat was a lovely surprise as well. Would 100% recommend. Great location close to all the sites, felt very safe around the hotel as well. Very helpful staff.
Highly recommend!! This is my top choice for any future visit! Pippin the ginger cat on staff is unforgettable, while some of our SF memories have faded this one has not! Be easy to be is greeted, followed to your room and ready for room calls for cuddles! This charming B&B is lovely and the rooms hang onto their 1913 Edwardian charm. It’s a super homely stay and a great location with cable cars readily available if your leg muscles can’t take the hike!
Stayed just one night. Location and price were awesome! room was way more spacious then what I was expecting. For sure had the "charm" one would expect from a hotel of this age. Sharing the bathroom was not an issue and we never had to wait. We had to walk next door for the free breakfast , but that was better then I was expecting as well. Real eggs, waffle maker (not the cheap mass produced batter) . | |Why only 4 stars ? The shower, the shower would be fine if you were 5 feet tall , my son and I both knocked our heads on the ceiling. For reference in the picture, my son is 5' 11"||side note: the cat did not like us. no bearing on the review, but disappointing
I wish I could write a review about staying in the hotel, but unfortunately the hotel did not provide that opportunity, even though they were glad to take our money. My partner and I had booked a room on the night of a concert, which was cancelled by the artist at the last minute. When requesting to cancel the hotel room, they replied, sure, your room has been cancelled. When we asked about the refund, they replied, this was a non-refundable rate so you won't get a refund. Fair, it's on us that we didn't read the fine print, but it is basic decency for the hotel to mention when the rooms are non-refundable before cancelling reservations. If we had known, we would have found a way to make use of it or gift it to somebody else. After senselessly losing $200 I reached out to the hotel to see how they could make the situation right. Even if they are unable to issue a refund, it would have been reasonable for them to offer a hotel credit in the amount that we paid to use on a future occasion. Crickets. It's unfortunate to try to support a boutique hotel and to be met with such silence. It sends the message that they are happy to take our money but have little regard for welfare of their customers.
I chose this hotel because of its excellent location, just a five-minute walk from Union Square, and because my preliminary research indicated the rooms were clean. I arrived at the airport at 11 PM, took a Lyft, and picked up the key at a sister hotel about a one-minute walk away. When I used the key to enter the hotel lobby, I was greeted by a very friendly and adorable cat named Skittles. We were instantly captivated by her. Breakfast is served at the other hotel where we picked up the key. The scrambled eggs, bacon, and bread were all delicious. The self-serve waffles, which we could make ourselves, were especially fluffy and wonderful. We stayed for three nights, and Skittles accompanied us to our room and slept in the bed with us for two of those nights. We were very sad to say goodbye to her on our last day. I was so smitten that I impulsively bought her a bed on Amazon and left it as a gift. I might keep checking the hotel's photos to see if she likes the bed we bought her. If I ever go to San Francisco again, I will definitely stay at this hotel.
We were given keys to a room that was already occupied, which was extremely uncomfortable and a serious safety issue. The staff apologized and moved us to another room, but despite being promised follow-up emails (even after calling back), none were ever sent. That said, we did enjoy the antique elevator and the cute cat in the lobby, which were nice touches.
This is an awesome hotel and it comes with free breakfast and the cat skittles is so cool. It’s such a cosy place and there’s pictures on the wall and the elevator is old-fashioned and you just feel at home away from home when you’re here well done to the management of this hotel for achieving this ambience.
