Recently, I visited San Francisco for a work trip and had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Monte Cristo Bed and Breakfast. When my Uber first dropped me off, I’ll admit I was a bit confused — I even found myself asking, "Wait, where is it?" As someone visiting the city for the first time, I wasn’t expecting such a low-key exterior. Once I stepped inside, though, all my doubts disappeared. I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the front desk who shared that the building dates back to the late 1800s. Despite its age, everything was spotless and beautifully maintained, with a classic charm that immediately made me feel at home. My room upstairs was cozy and comfortable, with all the modern amenities you’d expect from a hotel — and maybe even more. Breakfast was delivered to my room each morning, and the community dining area downstairs offered delicious desserts available throughout the day. I highly recommend staying at Monte Cristo Bed and Breakfast. It’s a perfect blend of history, comfort, and hospitality. I honestly can’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else the next time I visit San Francisco!

What an amazing find in a great part of SF! We were looking for a place to stay that was comfy and homey. The Monte Cristo fit the bill in every way. The rooms are lovely, the bathroom is clean and updated, and the complimentary breakfasts are DIVINE! We also greatly enjoyed the snacks and beverages available at all times of the day and night-- cookies, nut mixes, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, banana bread, brownies, and more. The staff is exceedingly friendly and they are there to help whenever needed. Our room was very private and quiet and, although others were staying there, we often felt like we were the only guests. Everyone was very quiet and respectful. The neighborhood is very walkable with restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops nearby. We will definitely return!

Its a great little Inn, just kinda overpriced. $350 a night in the middle on the week in February is steep, cant imagine how much a weekend in December would be, and the amenities are very Inn-like, not the clean looking and comfortable experience of a proper hotel, which is why the price seems too high. But the room was clean, the bathroom seemed to have been remodeled somewhat recently and the breakfast was good.

We had a lovely stay. The place extrudes old San Francisco charm over and over. Beautiful well appointed rooms in a historic building. The included breakfast is delicious and you’ll always find great snacks in the afternoon in the dining room. The establishment is fully renovated, clean and super cozy. The bed is soo comfortable. Definitely a place to stay. Very central but in a very quite attractive location.

We’re so sad to leave this place! We were only here two nights, and we wished we booked here for our entire stay. Firstly, Jack- the owner gave us a warm welcome. Let us know how breakfast worked, the room and gave us some great suggestions on food we were seeking out. Plus, the location was great for the places we wanted to visit! The room- I wish I had taken photos before we became so much at home, but truly just like the photos. Something that usually happens to me (even staying in a hotel) I get terribly bad allergies- here? Not even a sneeze! The place is so clean. It’s also very quiet, we never heard any noise from other rooms, the street outside is super quiet. Breakfast, we didn’t know if we would go, because we wanted to explore the food in San Francisco, but we’re happy we did. I loaded one photo (of a very large break and options) so unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the entire vision. Started off with fresh mixed fruit and coffee and then this amazing plate this options of many more things. The lady who took care of us was wonderful as well. Overall, great experience. Thanks for having us!

This little place is so sweet I loved the old charm but has nice updates also we stayed in a nice room downstairs the bathroom was amazing with plenty of room for my sister mom and I we had the room with a queen and a twin plenty of room. The breakfast was great every morning. They keep snacks out all day and have special treats out at night they have coffee tea and water available the whole time. This is a fantastic place and would definitely stay again the sweet lady who did the breakfast was the best

Absolutely loved my stay here. I usually stay downtown in a Hyatt when I come into SF for work, but they were sold out due to a conference, which turned out to be a total blessing in disguise because I had the chance to experience Monte Cristo! So cozy and the breakfast every morning was amazing.
