OK, this is a great hotel for the right person. I travel a lot and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and typically I do not like staying in the motels but if you have a young family, this is an amazing hotel in the heart of it all. It’s cute. It’s clean and they have some nice amenities for the price. We used the fitness center each day and found it just perfect for a travel workout. The pool is super clean and nice but just know that there are going to be little kids there and it’s gonna be loud. We thought the breakfast was more than adequate and really lovely. it’s definitely not a five star resort but the value for Money staying here was awesome. Would love to have that bar open more than just on the weekends. I wouldn’t say the front desk people are the warmest and most outgoing, but they were nice. The beds were super comfortable. The bathroom was great, except for the fact that it has a water saver showerhead, which I think is pretty normal for California. It was a budget weekend get away from my wife and I and we really enjoyed ourselves.
We stay there often when in Santa Rosa. It is clean, comfortable bed, nicely updated. The front desk girl was very pleasant. The breakfast is basic and could be better but the room has microwave and basically all we need. We'll continue to choose The Sandman. The nightly price is always lower than the competition which makes it an easy choice.
Nice stay, but initially there were issues. This looks like a best western that has been redone to look more trendy, with a Palm Springs vibe. CUte idea. When I booked a standard room, the pics showed a small kitchenette in the pics of the room. When checking in, I was told my room did not have this, and it would be $20 more a night- which I agreed to. Then I went to room 116; the covered up pet smell was OVERWHELMING. I opened the room up for 15 minutes but it didn’t help. I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it for 3 days. Also the furniture in the room was different- no desk, the chairs were basically outdoor metal chairs- very ugly and not looking comfortable. Went back to front desk and asked for another room and was put a couple of doors down- this room smelled much better and looked more like advertised pictures. I didn’t get a chance to try breakfast, but the small workout room was nice and the pool/bar area was cute and looked like a good time in the summer. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom nice and clean- towels fair/good. I think they should really describe that standard rooms don’t have kitchenettes/the website said all room have them, and since this is a pet friendly hotel; they need to redo carpeting/pads in some of the rooms desperately. I will probably stay again if I get the chance. Front desk was super helpful/ nice.
Room was clean and quiet, great for price. Good little full breakfast in the morning very well kept and clean. Definitely a repeat if I was back in the area. The only downside was the 150 deposit. I used my Amex to book and pay. Usually never have to pay a deposit, but it was right back on my card at check out.
The pics online of the room were accurate, and of pool/gym to. I did realize this was an outdoor entry hotel which in general was ok, however it was insanely noisy. People talking outside, cars parking, trucks beeping. You would hear cars/trucks til midnight at least then again starting at 5am. Our room was to be cleaned every 3rd day, on day 6 they didn't come. I checked and they were supposed to have been there. So next morning at 9am they were there (too early) we rushed to leave by 10 for them. The breakfast was very average but in the pool bar there was very limited seating! Mornings were cool to eat outside poolside (limited also). I thought pool was supposed to be heated, IMO it wasn't. Needless to say... I would not recommend this hotel & will not stay again. I booked here because it was an Ascend hotel thinking it would be a little more upscale then other choice hotels, IMO it was not.
The rooms were clean and stocked with all of the amenities you would need, however the service was questionable. We were woken up to housekeeping entering our room without knocking at 9am on our checkout day. When we went to the office to checkout and let the front desk associate know about our experience we were told "I’ll let them know, but housekeeping starts at 8:30am" we were given a piece of paper with information about our stay and it stated the following: "Housekeeping services are scheduled every three days. Dial "0" from your in-room phone to come to the front desk to request additional service. Please request before 11am for same-day service." No apologies given and seems like employees are on different pages and don’t care about guests stay at their property.
I had a great 2 night stay at the Sandman. I liked that there was complimentary breakfast. I also appreciated that my room got upgraded to a king from a queen. Although, it smelled strongly of old cigarettes (more than likely from the previous stay), but a nice spray of febreeze would've helped alot, or for the room to be aired out prior. However, the bed was a huge cloud! The softest bed i have ever slept on. The room itself was cute, i liked that there was an actual tea pot. It was also pretty quiet, at least inside the room. I did get locked out of my room twice. the second time, I had asked the cleaning lady ( she was right next door) she looked slightly irritated, but that might just be a resting mexican face lol. Although, i would've liked to be asked how my stay was in person when I checked out, but that is probably just a personal hospitality preference for me. I definitely would stay again. You can't beat the price.
