Casa del Merman at GayStPete House

This is my 6th or 7th stay. The Casa has truly become a second home. Always welcoming and friendly. My 1st time I didn't know what expect. Clothing optional but absolutely nothing like a bathhouse, eg. You can actually look someone in the eye and say good morning and not be thought of being on the prowl. Quiet normally but incredibly vibrant on weekends. Come down twice a year. It's great having this gem available. It is truly a safe place to get naked, free, connected to real human beings, and relaxed.

I was visiting relatives in St Pete and discovered it was possible to get a day pass to use the pool so I decided to go for a couple of hours to relax and get some sun. I discovered the swimsuit policy when I had the pleasure seeing three men totally nude by the pool. Of course I immediately removed my swimsuit and felt totally relaxed.

Place is filthy, 1/2 inch of dirt on the ceiling fan, used dirty sponge left at sink, broken light switch, paint cracking and pealing from walls, major iron stains on tub and toilet, wall of pool covered in mold, several large pieces of plaster broken out of pool, empty box left in room on bed, blinds and window shades inoperable.

Where to begin?!?! Brian has really made this a place to be! Very hospitable and all around great guy. Around noon on the day I was set to arrive he txt me and asked if I would like a free upgrade to a room by the pool and that was just the beginning of my great trip. The room was cozy and very comfortable, eclectic decorations and pride themed collections were tastefully tucked into the layout. The water pressure and hot water were both great. The pool area was well maintained and looked great, very clean and cozy. They have clearly put some work into making it such a cozy, fun, and welcoming place to stay. The hot tub! Absolutely perfect, especially since there was a cold front that came through during my trip and it was so amazing to be able to spend the cold night in a nice clean hot tub! Simple offerings for breakfast, juice, muffins and toast, yogurt, protein bars, anything you might need to a light start to your day. Location was great and easy to get to with parking not being an issue. All in all I was so happy with my time spent here and I can't wait to visit Brian and whiskey, the cutest pup with a strong opinion on leaving, again.

This is the fourth time we have stayed here. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Brian is the best host. He is an expert on the area and everything to do here. He even arranged for us to take a wonderful boat trip. Where else can you stay at a clothing optional place with a heated pool, hot tub and sauna for less than the price of the Holiday Inn?! The guests are even friendly. If you consider yourself to be high maintenance, and one to be picky about small details regarding a 100 year old house, maybe you should pay more and stay elsewhere. I have found nothing but a cozy, quiet, comfortable, welcoming place. At a great price. The pool area has all new pavers and cabanas that make the stay even better! Keep up the great work Brian! We will always stay here when we come to St Pete!

I needed a little get away and while I was on that side of the state for a Family event and to visit friends for the weekend, I thought I'd check-in for a couple of days. I was sent a text asking if I knew when I was arriving and was given instructions on how to access the property and my room, which was poolside; winning! Brian was great, the pool and yard were very relaxing. One of the best parts were the local guys that came by during the day, so friendly and made you feel welcomed as well, Not like the east coast of FL. The rooms could use a good deep clean but overall no complaints.

We spent 4 night and 5 days, including Christmas eve and Christmas day, at this quaint wonderful guest house. It was our second trip there and won't be our last! We loved it every time. The rooms are very comfortable, including bedding, very clean, spacious and well equipped. The owner Brian kindness and warm hospitality tight up the whole package together. He is very present and attentive to his client needs, provide a great breakfast on the morning and is very accommodating. This Christmas Day he provided (offered !!!) a wonderful Christmas dinner to all of his guest, this was very special. The place is pet friendly and Whiskey, the "queen" of the house (no pun intended... 😉 ) is a wonderful, playful and loving dog. Don't let you be fooled by a couple of negative reviews written by contributors who post about 88% of negative reviews anyway. You are doing a fantastic job Brian, keep going! And yes, your pool and surrounding looks wonderful!
