The staff tried to be accommodating. There were several issues with my stay that will prevent me from coming back. I feel a refund is necessary. The swimming pool is the reason I chose this hotel. Upon arrival ( unlike the website) I found that the pool was out of order. The foundation below the heater has a major gap allowing the outside cold air to come in. The heater does not work so the room just gets colder and colder at night. The phones do not work, the handicap peephole is just a hole through the door where both sides can see through. Breakfast was supposed to end at 9:00, but the staff started breaking down breakfast at approximately 8:20 a.m. Main light switch was broken My 4-year-old son got sick in the middle of the night and I had to wait from 2:00 a.m. until almost 1:00 p.m. for new bedding. Not all the plugins work. I Had to unplug my lamp to charge my phone. I only get my son every other weekend and I chose your hotel this weekend because he wanted to go swimming and I thought we would have a good time together here. As it turned out I was greatly incorrect. I understand there are people that spend more money than I did, but the fact still remains that The $130+ I spent on my stay here was a waste of money.

Positive: "" Negative: Plastic bag over the smoke detector, mold on the air conditioner, microwave dirty and a small empty bag in it

It has zero stars for me. First of all the aircondition and heater had lots of mold. Second the curtains were riped. Third the bathroom wall was very disgusting.🤢The hallway had a terrible smell. Blanket had lots of stains. The mattress was very uncomfortable. Felt like an air mattress or ever worse. Don’t go there if you want to sleep comfortably.

VERY run down, not clean. Pretty certain that was poop on the bed fitted sheet, pool not operational. Front desk did give me a new bedsheet. Not all lights in the room were operational, refrigerator did not work, bathroom fan when ran smelled like rubbing alcohol, shower did not drain properly. 10/10 do not recommend.

Room was filthy. Items reported to management: (see photos) dirty bedding, smoke alarm tampered with, non functional a/c, & only one of the 3 lamps in the room was working. All these things were reported to the front desk. Management offered no solutions or even to switch me to a new room they just said "you can check out if you want" and shrugged their shoulders. Additionally the hotel in general was noisy. I will never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it.

I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone. The overall experience felt careless and unwelcoming from start to finish. Breakfast was served with Fox News playing loudly on the TV, which is not something I expect or want forced on me in a shared public space. It set an uncomfortable tone right away. The pool was closed early on a Saturday night for no apparent reason, despite there being no issues with it. This was especially frustrating since amenities are a major reason people choose hotels in the first place. Basic conveniences were missing or broken. The ice machine did not work. There was no filtered water available anywhere on site. Several lights and outlets in the room didn’t function. The pillows were laughably small and uncomfortable. The bathroom was dirty on arrival, including visible pubic hair on the toilet, which is unacceptable. There were also crumbs in the bed, which made it feel like the room had not been properly cleaned at all. Sleep was nearly impossible due to an unattended dog left barking early in the morning for hours. No staff appeared to address it. The front desk staff never once greeted us when we came or went. They acted inconvenienced by guests and gave the impression they did not want to be there at all. There are no streaming services available, only basic cable, which feels outdated. To make matters worse, there is no elevator, only stairs, and we were not informed of this until after we were already booked on the second floor. Between the lack of cleanliness, broken amenities, poor communication, and unprofessional atmosphere, this stay was a disappointment in nearly every way. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY HERE...IT'S A NIGHTMARE HOTEL! Do not grace this hotel with your presence. Standards are way beyond subpar for Best Western's minimum standards. We stopped here because we were tired and had enough reward points for a free night's stay. No one was at the desk when we arrived because the clerk was busy throwing a bunch of local teens out who snuck into the indoor pool and were smoking pot. She said one person pays for the room and sneaks them all in. We eventually got a room which smelled really weird and had several repairs in the acrylic tub walls and floor and horrible mold with comical caulking. The toilet wouldn't flush, so we asked for a different room. The clerk gave us two more rooms to look at and they were in very similar condition to the 1st room. One had no sheer drapes so your only option was to have the blackout curtain or nothing (on the first floor)! |We were then offered a room on the 2nd floor and there was no elevator so we had to haul our stuff up two flights of stairs. The final room was a bit better than the first three we looked at, but still not great.|Oh, did I mention that 2 room smoke/CO2 detectors were loudly beeping on the first floor level and another one was beeping on the 2nd level? When we reported this, the desk clerk said they probably need new batteries. We decided to go out to dinner and hoped the alarms would be remedied by the time we returned. They were not. We went to our 2nd floor room and noticed two Topeka Fire engines had pulled up. The firemonoxidefighters walked through the hotel. I just had a very unsafe feeling about this place and we decided to leave after all these bad situations. Even a free rewards stay was not worth all this mess. We departed and I told the clerk that it felt unsafe and if alarms weren't working, it was a safety hazard. Especially after reading the carbon monoxide warning sheet left in the room, it just wasn't worth risking. See photos below for evidence of the carbon monoxide warnings and fire trucks. This place should be condemned or inspected by the health department at a minimum. Best Western corporation needs to evaluate this site and remove their name from this horrible property.
