Van Nuys Soul

This is an awesome stay. Available for tourist sweeps and long term swings, Soul is tucked away in Van Nuys. A beautiful desert Burrough in the Valley with awesome mountain views and big long blocks like the city. Truly something for the soul. The staff are hard-working and service oriented. Sleep options are traditional hostel bunk arrangements with privates Available as well. You will appreciate the exceptional state of cleanliness from the bright entry way. This is consistent throughout and truly sets "Soul" apart from other well traveled international hostels. The house manager, Michael is a charming Parisian that you will find dependable and trustworthy. In the area are delicious and varied food options, more Mexican options than other food types, and you will figure them all very authentic. Pizza and some of those quirky West Coast burger joints round out some other standout deliveryoptions. There are also some convenient local grocers as well as several larger chains with in one mile of the hostel. The campus is dry, but tobacco and 420 friendly. This pairs well with above average accommodations for food storage and communal spaces.

I really enjoyed my stay. It is an affordable spot accommodating. The staff is amazing. They have an awesome manager on spot. Joseph was very helpful on any needs to be met It’s a very clean and friendly environment thanks again. I will be rebooking when I come on my next vacation.

Been here almost a week. Booked for two months. So far have had a great experience. There was a little mix up with rooms when I got here, but Joseph took initiative and rectified the issue immediately. Since then, have had nothing short of a great experience! Again, any questions or concerns I’ve had, Joseph was there and willing to go above and beyond to help and find a solution if necessary. Without him I feel like this place would not operate as well as it does. He’s the only employee I’ve seen helping out guests and making sure everything runs smooth. Have and would recommend to friends and family to stay here if looking for a place that’s affordable and comfortable!

Had such a great stay at Van Nuys Vibe! The place has a super chill and welcoming vibe. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, and the common areas are nice and relaxed. The location is really convenient, close to shops, restaurants, and public transport. The staff is friendly and always happy to help. Felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting LA!

Ok so the location for me was perfect because I only have to hop on one bus 25 min and I'm at work. The staff seems sweet but I have to say that for half of my stay I was afraid they were going to burst in and tell me I had to leave. I feel that the price is good but you get what you pay for. And for some reason they kept trying to say that the room I rented ,which was nothing like the photo,Just a bed, was 400 per week which would be 1600 per month which is I. No way worth it. For that price you get your own private bathroom and mini fridge. Mind you my blanket had burn holes which I didn't complain I just purchased a $20 duvet cover and that was done. Like I said it's convenient but you get what you pay for. I'm currently scared that I needed a room for one more week and called there office a hundred times to try to clarify things and got ahold of a person only once. But never again

I usually never write reviews but this hostel is something to be warned of. I‘m honestly a bit lost for words when writing this right now but I’ll just try to summarize the major points of this horror stay. My friend and I had to spontaneously book a hotel/hostel for one night and were scammed by the obvious fake reviews of this hostel thinking it can’t be that bad. We had booked through Booking and when we tried to check-in, where asked by a dubious, barely English-speaking person to send a $40 deposit to a random PRIVATE person‘s Zelle account. It was quite late and they refused to give us the room otherwise. When we could finally go to our room after 20 minutes of discussion, we discovered right away we were given another room than the one we had booked (we booked a private room with own bathroom and a Queen-size bed but they suddenly wanted us to share a bathroom with other people on the floor and share a 1,20m „double" bed). When making the „employees" aware of that, they simply told us the room we had booked is already booked by someone else. What I think was the worst part, though, was the dirtiness. I honestly don’t know from the bottom of my heart how you can run a business like that but there was mold, dust and piles of dark hair everywhere that you could literally see with your bare eyes from a 15 meter distance 🙂 it was not only on the floor but also spread all over the blanket we were supposed to sleep with which was a special kind of joy! Not to mention there were no towels, soap, toilet paper or any other necessities normal human being might need in order to live averagely comfortably. When talking to the employee about getting a refund as we were simply not getting what we booked and paid for, they were COMPLETELY clueless, claiming „management" wasn’t to be reached and told us to contact Booking. When doing so, Booking reached out to Van Nuys Soul and they declined offering a refund or any other kind of resolution for this. End of the story: we paid money for a room we didn’t get and also a $40 deposit which we will never see again.
