Holiday Inn Express Winston-Salem by IHG

We didn't have an issue with the staff at check in, she was very pleasant. I asked about giving my member number and was told she'd put it in but doubted I would get the points? That seemed a bit strange. The room was clean and nice. Then it was time to sleep, the road noise was crazy loud. I mean hard to sleep through loud. I have no idea what was going on but it sounded lik people were running through the halls and through the room upstairs. I think i heard EVERY door close in the entire place. I have had quieter nights sleeping in my camper in a cracker barrel parking lot. The AC seemed under powered then i looked at the door and saw why it was struggling to cool, the entire door had a gap all the way around it ( see picture). It's not great.

Patricia was very professional, kind, and helpful. Excellent work ethic. Really enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies she made for us. The hotel was clean and nice. Thanks for everything.

Disappointed for price, $165 for 1 night, a Friday night. elevator down both days Was in a room next to the highway and the noise from highway was the loudest I’ve experienced before. Had a party of 4, didn’t have enough bath linens to have 1 washcloth and 1 towels per person upon arrival. Requested more, didn’t receive, called back 2 hours later, was told I’d need to get linens myself from front desk. Room decor, cleanliness were good. Beds comfy and breakfast yummy. Service was pretty good and polite except towel situation.

I am a Diamond Elite member with IHG, and I generally expect a smooth check-in experience. Before arriving, a call ahead was made to confirm that early check-in would be available with my status and I was assured I could check in any time after 12 noon. When I arrived around 1:30 p.m., the front desk employee immediately told me check-in wasn’t until 3 p.m. and that no rooms were available because housekeeping was still working cleaning rooms. I explained that I had called ahead and was told otherwise, but she dismissed my comment and insisted no such call was made. Only after I asked again did she finally call someone and checking the system she discovered that I did in fact have early check-in and my room was ready. Although the situation was resolved, the interaction was disappointing. The employee was short, not very friendly, and no apology was made; my impression that she does not understand she works in the hospitality industry where service, courtesy, and a willingness to assist guests should come first. A simple check of the system before dismissing me would have avoided the poor experience altogether

The hotel is the typical Holiday inn Express but the north side of the building closest to the interstate is very noisy in the rooms. Make sure you get a room on the south side or bring earplugs. The entrance to the facility is not very convenient. You can only enter coming from the north and have to make a u-turn if you happen to be coming from the south.

Not impressed with this hotel. Not in a great area, rooms not that clean and had a smell has in 2 different rooms 5 days apart didn’t have a choice the second time but it was just 1 night. Staff was not very friendly just overall not what I normally experience with H.I.E. Never again.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Our 3 adult children, and their spouses and children joined us there on the second night. The hotel is nice and they had a nice breakfast that was included. The property is very clean. One particular staff person made our stay really outstanding. Patricia worked at the front desk both days on the afternoon shift. She upgraded our room to a king suite and was just the nicest, most helpful, person! Thank you, Patricia! We hope you’re there when we return next year!
